I've heard this argument from Christians before. "Oh, it's not the religion that's at fault! Our religion is all about peace! Those horrible people you see on the telly just READ it wrong!"

Err, no. They read it right, allright. They're fundamentalists because they follow the word of god as it is written, as an absolute. (only Sith deal in absolutes!)*
If someone says that those elements from the bible that tell you to stone homosexuals to death, or worse ( and I can give you a few horrendous quotes from the charming book) are not to be taken literally, then I accuse them of NOT being a christian. You can't just pick-and-choose from the sacred text, that's the easy way out. You either back your religion and all its teachings, or you don't. You either buy all that Genesis crap or you do not. You either grudgingly admit that Darwin had a point or you acknowledge God pulled us all out of Adam's rib. Too many people just want to pick out the things that they like from Christianity to make their own personal customised spiritual cocktail, but you know what? This isn't Wicca. No New Age spin the bottle pick your religion type of thing. You either follow the word of God and accept that by attending church you condone the blood of billions of innocent people being spilt in His name, the Fascist God, or you get the Hell (pun intended) out of there.

Oh, did I mention I'm a Satanist?
