Frank, I agree with you that government can overreach its own bounds that we thought we put on it. That is why the guys that began the usa gave us the right to keep and bear arms.
I will not be willing to let that right go even if there are a lot of people running around using them for no good. A few of those who would use guns wrongly to steal and have thier way with others left hanging on some lamp posts and it would cool that a bit.
But in any case you are correct about letting the government chip away at things. It is like having a new tax that is supposed to do away with some other tax and you end up having both of them in the long run.
I am inclined to like that young age of consent although I am pretty much done taking advantage of it anymore. If a government figures you are old enough to be tried as an adult for a crime, any crime, then you are old enough to decide if you want to have sex with someone. We cant have it both ways in my opinion.
