Here in the US, you can't give blood (or probably even organs, who knows) if youre a male and have EVER had sex with another male since 1980 or whenever AIDS first came out. At least in Canada, they arent QUITE as strict with the banning of gay men as they are in the US.

Honestly, my take on it is this: If your (the health community) tests for HIV/HBV are SO UNRELIABLE that you have to ban gays for fear that you'll mis-identify virus positive blood as virus-negative..... you've got serious problems. In other words, the system is broken. I have a hard time believing that after 27 YEARS of HIV being around, they have yet to make an error free (aside from human error) test for the virus. They know what it looks like, they know what it goes after.... what's the problem??
