Subject: Day 3 - Does discrimination against bisexuality exist within the LGBT community?

Everyone in the LGBT community faces discrimination in some form. However many bisexuals feel they are facing discrimination from within the LGBT community. In an effort to come to terms with homosexuality, do you think members of the gay community may become ‘militantly gay,’ rejecting or out casting other sexual orientations? Specifically any association with heterosexuality?

Stereotypes such as “bisexuality is just a stepping stone to coming out as gay” or “bisexuals are really straight people trying to be trendy” are common. Do you feel bisexuals have equal ground in the LGBT community? Does your opinion change if a bisexual is dating someone of the opposite sex? Do you have experience with someone who is bisexual whom these stereotypes were true for? Could some negative associations with bisexuality be related to experiences of coming out and rejecting heterosexuality?

Does discrimination against bisexuality exist within the LGBT community?
