Pneumonia in and of itself can be overcome. But with any number of dibilitating diseases where the body is constantly fighting, pneumonia can be deadly. Personal examples, one Grandfather of mine fighting cancer ultimately died of Pneumonia, not cancer. My other Grandfather suffering from several strokes, heart attacks and senile dimentia and begining stages of Alszeimers, died from Pneumonia. I have a friend and neighbor who fought with triple pneumonia with an already compromised immune system die at the age of 54 from it.
I guess what I'm saying is that and major disease taxes your immune system, taxes your body, and when pneumonia rears its head, your body cant fight it. the common cold can turn to Pneumonia when the body is unabe to fight it or in the case of my grandfather, you're unable to tell someone how you feel until its too late.

I know your question was an innocent one in every sense, but there many many other reasons for the suffering other than assuming HIV. This may not be an answer that we will get. But just also consider other options. Please dont take this post the wrong way Frank.
