I completely agree that guns need far more rules and regulations. That said, a teen who's angry enough to do such terrible things will still find a way to cause as much pain to others as he would have with an automatic gun. If not guns, it'll be something else. The chemicals under my sink alone are enough to take out an entire cafeteria of students.

TJ is right in saying it's our culture. We've become secluded and less caring toward strangers. We see someone crying in public and it makes us uncomfortable so we avoid eye contact and keep walking. That's everyday behavior. Can you imagine what it's like for someone who's living with abuse, a victim of bullying, or suffering from mental illness? Teen isolation is a pretty big indicator that something's wrong, yet we as a culture have trained ourselves to ignore these things until something terrible happens.

The ease in getting guns is a secondary problem. It's just easier (and the right thing to do) to make guns harder to get.
