I won't pretend to know what lesbians have to deal with. I have heard some horror stories, in my time, that made me realize that some gay women have to go through some really terrible things too, including being shunned and expelled by their families, and extreme misogyny from straight men who think all they need to "fix" them is their particular penis.

Some gay women have a relatively easy time of it. Some gay men have a relatively easy time of it. Others have to deal with the most horrific stuff. I think men have the whole "to be gay means you're weak or effeminate" sort of stuff to deal with. And women have the whole "you're born and raised to be a mother and a wife" shit to deal with.
So I don't want to trivialize or compare anyone's experience to someone else's. It's like comparing homophobia to racism. They're different but also terrible in their own ways. No one's kicked out of their family for being black. But also, you can't tell someone's gay as soon as you see them walking down the street and in the "wrong" neighbourhood.
