Subject: It's the route of their ideology. What drives them.

They start with the low hanging fruit. The easiest target. And work their way through, as their circle gets smaller and smaller. Then, when trans people, gay people, women, other religions, etc have been "sorted", they start on disagreements in their own religion. Christian men fighting Christian men over stuff like if the cracker really turns into the body of Christ, or best age for baptism, etc. Progressives are the opposite, they're looking to keep expanding the circle of inclusion.

First up, men who weren't aristocrats, such as laborers were allowed to vote. Then women. At the same time, progress over children and animal rights was happening. Then women got the vote and were allowed to divorce, and have access to contraception. Interracial marriage and civil rights. Then same sex rights and gender expression.

Arguments can be had if either side goes too far, but I'd rather be part of the group that argues for the existence of rights for others, not the group that argues to take them away.
