This week's 3M asks...how can you heal yourself when you don't completely know who you are?
"Black Box" actually ended up being a much more engaging film than I expected it to be once you get beneath the surface. A sci-fi/thriller with some unexpected twists and turns, this movie kind of throws a few curve balls your way as it progresses.
Nolan, a father and husband, has recently been in a bad car accident. One that killed his wife and put him in a coma for days. When he wakes up, even after therapy and rehabilitation, he's still suffering from a case of selective amnesia that causes him to forget parts of his life that he can't seem to get back. However, when his mental issues makes it difficult for him to care for his daughter and threatens to tear their family apart, he decides to go in to try an experimental procedure to find out why his trauma is blocking some of his memories and not others.
From there, the mystery begins. The virtual hypnosis technology brings him directly into his subconscious to rediscover himself. But as he peels back layer after layer, he begins to question who he was before the accident. Things cease to add up, memories come and go, and what he DOES find....he can't connect to anything that feels like his true self. And as you keep watching...there are some cool surprises waiting for you.
So definitely check it out! It's something to get your brain working! Enjoy! :)
