I am not sure why the processing power on the PalmOS is such a problem, really- I haven't used my T3 for some time now, but, I believe that that has a 400mhz processor, which meets the minimum currently recommended / required by Skype. Perhaps the PalmOS uses the processor in a different manner (I am not programming expert), but, on numbers alone, the PalmOS should not lose out (although, I guess we are actually talking hardware, rather than the OS itself here).

Another area which might need addressing on the PalmOS is the issue of audio-in/out. High-end business machines used to have voice recorders (T5 excepted), which incorporated a built-in microphone. However, as far as I know, it has not been possible to have audio going into the microphone, as well as audio coming out, via the speakers. (Obviously, this is not the case with the Treo, but I would imagine that this employs a completely different architecture to cope with voice.) If this is true, then it would cause signficant problems with Skype- and resolving this may be more work that it would be reasonable to expect for a piece of freeware. If someone were able to to develop a Bluetooth headset profile for non-smartphone devices, then this could help prevent the problem, but, on my T3 at least, running Bluetooth was an excellent way of draining the battery in short order.

Well I hope the major issues can be ironed out and Skype will look to include Palm OS.
