Right click on the Start button and left click on Explore.
Click on Tools | Folder Options
Select the File Types tab.
Now find the file type want to change the default program, like .jpg, .jpeg, .bmp.
Once have the file type selected click on the Change button. Then choose the program want to use to open pictures. Probably want Microsoft Picture and Fax Viewer.

this works fine till I get to folder options - I have three tabs to choose from : general, view and search - none of which seem to have anything that resembles file types- sigh - any other suggestions? -- chris k, 06:34:11 11/20/07 Tue [1]
