Hi!

I live in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and I have worked at the Maritime Museum here. This is a long shot, but worth trying. You might contact Memorial University (MUN) in St. Johns, Newfoundland. The "Maritimes Studies Research Group" has a large collection of shipping records and they might be able to help you, especialy as you have a date. When I visited the MUN site the Maritimes Studies Research Group link was down, but I think that if you sent an email from the "Contacts" list on the research page to Research General Inquiries they would put you in contact with someome. I do not think that there are records here at the archives in Halifax, but MUN is likely to know that. In addition, in case you don't know, Pittman is a Newfoundland surname.
