Subject: Planning & Zoning meeting

I hope that the P&Z meeting will be well attended on Thursday. It’s time the P&Z review regulations that need to be updated. You only need to drive through some main roads in town to see at one end a junk van with a junk removal advertising sign on it. This junk van is long overdue for removal. On the other side of town on another main road you see a junk toilet and other items on a front lawn. These items have been there for close to a week. Usually when one has a tag sale people pack up their stuff and haul it off to the land fill. There are other locations in town with uncompleted projects on homes that leave an unsightly mess. For example, flapping tarps on roofs that need repair, half completed roadside projects or homes that have not been kept up and consistently has over gown shrubs and lawns that never get mowed. I for one believe it’s time to initiate a blight ordinance. I realize not everyone has funds to complete projects however there should be some time limit or at least reasonable clean up until the project is completed. I am not talking about repairs not completed due the weather but projects that have been started over a year ago and continues to impact on a neighborhood especially resale value.
Another thought, possibly there is a group in town that could lend their expertise to some folks that are in need and are too embarrassed to ask for help.

Hey, I have better idea! Let's connect all of the houses and turn the entire town into a big condo complex. Then we can charge association fees and hire lawn care professionals to ensure that all grass is cut to exactly the same (and correct) height.

Ok, I suppose that's unrealistic so how about a covert commando pruning militia that sweeps through town in the wee hours and takes on all those mis-shapen shrubs! And what about house paint ordinace so people can only use colors that we like? While we're at let's change the name of the town to Stepfordville!

You missed the point and obviously you only read a small portion of my message.....OK maybe I will take back my comment regarding lawns but what about junk that is left on the road side or junk cars lined up in a driveway unregistered. True what people due on their own property is their business but collecting old rusting equipment and left in the front yard is unsightly and I am not commenting about antiques people restore and display. I guess you must live in a neighborhood where everyone is conscientious but when you have to live near a secondary "landfill" it is bothersome.

Oh, I read your entire message and your opinion is quite obvious. Here's mine: if your so worried about your property value, go live in a planned community. There are plenty to choose from.

I say on top of all of your concerns we all go and protest the idea of cluster housing!! I love when citizens work as a team...getting rid of junk toilets and cluster housing all in one night. Be there!
