Stayin' Alive: ***1/2
Another very clever cold open that turned out great. I enjoyed several techniques used to speed up the song while John was running as well. John Travolta is hosting SNL!

Monologue: **
John Travolta goes through his career as an actor, which was pretty fun, though very light on jokes. I found it weird that nobody clapped as soon as he mentioned Saturday Night Live during the monologue. Usually, the audience eats that stuff up.

Bathroom Monkey: ***
This was alright and turned out to be one of Janeane's better moments on the show. I also liked the different types of monkeys that can be purchased.

Coffee Talk: DUD
The final Coffee Talk with Mike in the cast. John Travolta was into his role as Barbra Streisand, but they already did a Barbra Streisand appearance, so I am not exactly sure what was going through the writer's minds when they agreed to that. 222 Second Street.

Dracula's Not Gay: ****1/2
Dracula's Not Gay was pretty good for season 20 standards. A big part of that is due to John Travolta's performance as Dracula.

Weekend Update: **1/2
The creepy girl who had that weird laugh in the first Weekend Update joke made me chuckle. Norm's best jokes were: Mr. Monopoly(!), Nobel Peace Prize, first part of OJ Simpson joke, Yoko Ono, Virgin Cola(!).

Norm's "that's good news" comment in response to the porno was great. Was not a fan of Farley's commentary this time around. What's with all these commentaries revolving around the strikes in the first few episodes?

Sandler and Spade do the Religious Cult members for the first time. I did not like these characters and it seemed like an excuse to shove more appearances of Sandler and Spade down the throats of the viewer. All the new characters this season on Update were pretty weak. Didn't they do the 5-Day Forecast before in Update?

The 90 year old mom joke punchline got NO response at all from the audience.

Welcome Back Kotter: ****1/2
One of those rare masterpiece mash-ups that were frequent to SNL during the Hartman years. The voice Spade used here was hilarious, but what made this stand out above the rest of the sketches during this era were the cameos at the end of the sketch.

Women's Self-Defense Class: **
The beginning of Women's Self-Defense Class was funny and trying to avoid getting hit was funny. One lady missed and it got horrible as soon as all the ladies started kicking together.

Larry King Live: **
I am surprised they did not do Larry King Live as much with Kevin Nealon in the cast, especially during this season. They did Larry King Live for the last two cold openers before this season and this particular installment gave Travolta his only impression showcase of the night. I just wish this sketch did not end as ridiculously and bizarrely as it did. It was unnecessary.

Small Office: *1/2
I liked Farley and Meadows yelling at Spade during Small Office. The flashback was pretty funny. The ending was okay, but the audience was dead.

Deaf Drug Dealers: 1/2*
The black guy from Forrest Gump joke in the Deaf Drug Dealer sketch was funny. Saved the sketch from being a DUD.

Farley didn't look that good at the end during the Grease song. However, I loved how after the song ended, he "knocked out" Jay Mohr.

Episode MVP: John Travolta.
He was perfect for SNL, as evident in this episode and some big-time steps were taken forward by the writers to give John some of the best all-around material of the season. "One-time Grammy winner" Seal was good as well. Kevin Nealon made many appearances for the cast side of things.

Final Thoughts:
Gotta say that the Grease song was probably the peak of season 20 and the cast as a whole this season. All downhill from there, folks.
