Subject: Really good summary of the season by Splitsider

http://splitsider.com/2017/05/season-42-of-saturday-night-live-was-entertaining-but-ultimately-fell-short/

Often Splitsider's coverage of the show is up and down, but I think this piece pinpoints rather accurately what was good about last season (Julio Torres' more oddball, interesting pieces; the ongoing Kyle/Leslie storyline and the escalating Kellyanne Conway sketches) and what was bad (too much reliance on stunt casting, an unwillingness to go after Hillary in any way- I'm rather surprised they brought this up, but it's a valid point).

The writer brings up a very good point in that they hired so many outside people to play various people in the administration that they now are stuck with what to do with them next season- Who's going to play Trump? Kushner? Ivanka? etc. Sean Spicer? (if he doesn't get fired). The show was concerned with getting ratings by getting big celebs to do all these roles that now they have contingency plan for next season (especially since 3 cast members have now left too).
