Dear Phil,

It is not possible to answer your question from your forum message.

Natural addictions could be really terrible for the addicted person and for their families. You only have to think about smoke addiction, how much people can't free form their addiction?

Gambling addiction is worst. Due to its characteristics, it hurts the human mind and hearth because the effect of their addiction is visible, so it is necessary a great healing effort.

Our Lord can deliver us from the evil, but we have to say no to temptation. In the case of addictions people can't say no, due to this addiction. It is a hard situation because they are not free to choice.

Of course, it is possible (theoretically) that possession, (or better other devil action from temptation to obsession), could lead persons to addictions.

In any case it is necessary to look for medical assistance and, of course, for spiritual assistance, prayer and sacraments.

The way to total healing is very long in this kind of addictions but it is necessary to start walking. The way is full of fallings but it is necessary to start again and again. To keep always the faith in healing (in our Lord) when there is no hope.

May the Lord deliver Jean-Charles and heal his family.
