Subject: IIRC, they have some connection that goes back before NCIS. I don't remember what it is, but there's something there.

Gibbs met Ziva on Kill Ari, when they were hunting down Ari for killing Kate. She insisted Ari was innocent. At one point, Gibbs talked to her alone and said "You did a dossier up on me. You know about my first wife and my daughter." She confirmed she did, and he said, "Then we both know why Ari is sniping at women, don't we?" He got her to arrange a trap for him to talk to Ari, and said that if she was right, there wouldn't be a problem. Ziva asked what if he was right, and Gibbs said "Then I'm trusting you to back me up."

There's a scene in Gibbs' basement where Gibbs talks to Ari and Ari is getting ready to kill Gibbs with Gibbs' own sniper rifle. Before he can fire, he goes down from a shot to the head, administered by Ziva. After the shot, we learn that Ari was Ziva's half-brother. Gibbs squeezes her hand and then lies in the report he sends to Mossad, saying he is the one who killed Ari. (Ari and Ziva's father is the deputy director of Mossad.) To our knowledge, nobody else knows that it was really Ziva who killed Ari. And until she was framed for murder at the beginning of season four, nobody knew Ari was her brother, either.
