Fallen Comrade of the Irish Republican Socialist Movement

James McPhilemy
Volunteer - Irish National Liberation Army
Killed in Action on 10 August 1988

Aged 20, James McPhilemy was part of a three-man INLA unit from
Strabane. When the unit was preparing to attack a British Army
checkpoint in Clady, Co. Tyrone, he made himself vulnerable by calling
out to warn children in the area to get down. The British soldiers
opened fire and killed him.

A memorial to McPhilemy and another comrade was unveiled in Strabane
on 10 August 2003.

He died as he lived: a Republican Socialist. Remember him with honour
and pride.
