The three men remanded have informed us that letters, cards etc are not being delivered to them - and will not be delivered until the end of August. The prison claim this is due to 'staff shortages.'
Relatives who phoned the prison to ensure the clothing they intended leaving for the men did not breach regulations were informed the clothing would not be accepted. Consequently these three remand prisoners have not had a change of clothing since their imprisonment on July 7th - 22 days prior to the letter received by us on July 29th.
The three men believe they are being denied their civil rights. They also say there's no point writing to them as letters will not be received by them until end of August.
They recommend friends contact relatives by mobile phone. We do not believe they will get bail, therefore the need to resolve this problem is paramount.
