  I'm younger than all of you but I did go to PS279 .. My last year in 279 was 2nd grade and then I graduated PS312 .. Some of my teachers were... Ms. Lynch and Ms. Kahn for Pre-K.. Ms. Shapiro for kindergarten.. Ms. Cohen for 1st grade.. and Ms. Blitz for 2nd grade.

  Where are all the teachers from yesteryear? I mean...Miss Baum, Mrs. Presser, Mrs. Lowenthal, Mrs. Copeland, Miss Persky? Those were the days of the greatest teachers. I know that they were some of my best influences and I try to use them as role models today when I teach.

  Anyone interested in attending a double Canarsie HS/South Shore HS reunion?
  The idea is to make it a jumbo reunion for the ultra good-looking and cool classes of 1982 - 1986, as we all have extremely busy lives. (Inclusion of 1981 & up to 1988 is also an option).
  Plus, our neighborhood didn't promote the best school spirit, so this way we can guarantee at least 200 - 300 people attending.
  Tables can be set up according to HS & graduating year.
  Those who didn't graduate CHS or SSHS for whatever reason(but who would have in those years) are also invited.

  If the response rate is decent, I'll seriously start planning this for a Saturday night, either in January, 2005, or July, 2005.
  This way, some of you have some time to lose 20 pounds,
  work out, get lipo and hair transplants:-)
  This reunion concept depends on the feedback I get.
  
  We'll have it somewhere nice, either in NYC (either a hotel ballroom like the Hilton, Marriott or Sheraton, or a cool lounge-type place like Metronome).

  I graduated from 279 in 1984. i would really like to hear from some of my old classmates. I had Ms. Dimaggio, Ms baum, Ms Kimmel and others. At the time, the principal was Ms. Seigel.

  I came to America in 4/1985 and settled Canarsie. Me and my sis enrolled at PS 279. I started school that year in the 3rd grade with Mrs. Englebert (spelling?). Since it was May, I had her only for 5 weeks. But in Sept. I started fourth grade with Ms. Rita Brummer (Rita Brumner?). She was terrific! I'd like to find a way to get in touch with her or to hear from other students that have had her.
  
  I moved away from Brooklyn right after the fourth grade but I have one more memory about PS 279. We had an Asst. Principal name Murray Soltano. Once when I was in HS, I we had a pretty bad winter (this must have been 92 or 93) and I saw a driving instructor interviewed on Ch 4 in the morning and his name was Murray Soltano. I was pretty sure it was the same guy.

  Does anyone remember Mrs. Sadofsky? She worked in the office and was wonderful. she cried when I went to JHS 211 because then I wouldn't be able to help her as much at 279. I knew she lived somewhere near Ave. U but lost touch with her way back. I have always thought of her and if there is anyone out there who knows her family, let them know that I STILL appreciate all the help she gave me for all those years. It was fun!
