Wow I stumbled across this site. Yes I remember a bunch of those teachers. (I graduated in '76) Can't believe how long ago that was!

I've heard of or had many of the teachers listed here. I attended the school when it originally opened in the spring of 1964 and graduated in June 1965. From September 1963 until the school was built, we were bused from Mill Basin to P.S. 206 on Avenue V and E. 22nd St.
A number of them stand out in my memories. Mr. Slevin was overall a good teacher, who could talk like a real tough guy if he thought some discipline was required.
I didn't have Ms. Kilarjian, but I do know she tought ceramics and her class was nicknamed 'Kilarjian's Kitchen' by the students.
Jesse Sodden had a side career as a rabbi. I remember he had letters published in newspapers objecting to U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War and blessing the Berrigan Brothers (I remember the Berrigans were either conscientious objectors or protestors of the war). I never had him as a teacher.
I had Mr. Wayler for mechanical drawing. He referred to misbehaving students or goofs as cookoo birds. His wife tought in the school also.
I had Mr. Prager for metal shop. Years later he became a dean.
I had Mr. Kingley for science. Mrs. Margolies was unmarried when I had her for 8th grade science and went by the name Miss Dubron.
Mr. Katz was the principal and Mr. Lerner the assistant principal when I attended.

I have good memories of several of the aforementioned teachers but terrible memories of others. In particular the tall hulking male social studies teacher who had a classroom in remote part of the basement. He had an odd method of seat assignment by gender and level of attractiveness. He would touch and fondle the hair, arms, shoulders of female students while they were responding in class. He'd also verbally abuse the less popular and less attractive students both male and female. Today he'd be arrested - back in '75 he just freaked us all out and so we quietly put up with it.

I remember many of these names. Does anyone remember Mr Ratner’s first name? It was such a shock when we heard about his suicide. My recollection was that it was a murder-suicide and that he killed his wife. Anyone else remember the details?

Steve

Mr. Rubin was my science teacher in 6th Grade. He was simply the best teacher I have ever had. Period. I retained so much knowledge from Chemistry and Physics from that class that I still use it today. If somewhere, sometime his family reads this, I want them to know that.

Mrs. Radiloff's son was a friend of mine, and I'm still in touch with Mr. Lerner's son, Todd.

Best to everyone,
Greg
