New Hartford sand shed hits building snag

BY KRISTEN DOMONELL REPUBLICAN-AMERICAN

NEW HARTFORD — The building of a new sand and salt shed scheduled to be completed last week has hit a snag after construction errors were brought to the attention of town officials.

The foundation of the shed is being made entirely of stacked concrete blocks, but images displayed at the town's Board of Selectmen meeting Tuesday showed the edges of many of the blocks sticking out as much as seven to 10 inches instead of creating a flat finish.

First Selectman Daniel V. Jerram said he is working with the contractor, Stone Construction Co. of Southbury, to reach an amicable agreement about how to correct the project and have it completed in a timely manner.

"I'm hopeful that we can work together to resolve the issue so that we get the product that was promised," Jerram said.
