Selectmen gearing up to slam through $ 10 million or more in tax increases-fees to the taxpayers for a waste water treatment plant upgrade to serve the sewer and water users. Make a note of this. They are going to try and ram through a plan that would take this out of all the NON-USERS pockets. It’s coming, how fast and how much the majority of town taxpayers will pay for the 400 or so users is being determined now. At first blush, the selectmen are preparing how to tell everyone, the non users that they will foot the tax bill. Remember last year, remember the people in town complaining about their wells and septic and asking the town to pay every house hold for any repairs or replacements to their systems as required. I think this is a great idea. Non-users should not be saddled with the responsibility of the WPCA and their Customers, especially when non-users repair or replace their systems out of their own pockets, possibly more than 2 or 3 times during their ownership of the house and land and not one penny comes from the town.
Look at the regulations of a WPCA Customer. “Customer”, a very explicit definition in the regulations of the WPCA and it’s on file downtown since 1997 and if you read it, you will see that the 85% non-users are NON Customers. The WWTP is there to serve the users, “WPCA - Customers”.
Residents exclusively on their own well and septic are NON –Customers, non users and therefore not financially responsible for the WPCA or the waste water treatment plant. All the non users will need to stay alert and vigilant as these selectmen will ram-rod this through, so fast and hard, you will swear you just had a rotor rooter on yourself and you won’t even know it till after it’s done.
