Subject: Our Caring Neighbors, The Space Cadets

The trauma of the encounter at the BOS meeting with massive numbers of Space Cadets is only slowly wearing off. I still can see the eyes of fanatics and the psychology of the mob at work. Certain comments come back to me.

One of the cadets got up to, I think, respond to my economic arguments. He said, in essence, "Yeah, there may be people in this town on the edge of solvancy, but if they are so close to that edge that $15 per year is going to push them over, then too bad for them."

It was a stunning remark, and no one booed or showed dismay when that particular jerk went on in the same mode saying, in essence "Screw them. Our agenda is more important."

In fact, when Bill Marchand later quoted this wonderful human being, the audience almost universally screamed out, "No one said that."

Amazing. I wish this had been videotaped and could be played back on public television so that everyone in New Hartford could see what a herd of pigs these people were.

Notice, not one of them has come on this board to apologize.
