last night was the local relay for life. If you dont know what it is its an overnight walk that raises money for cancer research. It is held at schools and you have a team that must have at least one person walking at all times. The veent runs from 5 pm to 9 am and everyone has tents in the middle of the track. we yesterday it rained non stop here and the event was moved into the school and people lapped the halls. This was my first year being involved. Didnt have a team but wanted to help out. I getting a team next year found many people at work who want to help, but too late for this year. anyhow, Rachel and I bought Luminaries for Her grandfather and I bought one for one of our residents who is presently losing her battle. The ceremony is usually the bags are put out with candles in the field spelling out the words hope. being indoors it was in the gym with twinkle light between all the bags. I really hit me walking in there how many people battle cancer :(. we walked amoung the bags until we found Rachels Poppaw. she sat in front of it for about 1/2 an hour crying. I felt so bad, but she really understood what the night was all about. we did a few laps and hung out until almost midnight. they shoertend it to 1am since there was no where to pitch tents inside. It was an inspiring night. I feel anyone wh is connected with loss in anyway can get something out of involvement in this. It was also fun. but this morning my legs were having Charlie Horses. Mabbe I should stopped at the booth doing foot and leg massages :)
