Subject: Earthquakes

now I am very used to earthquakes being from California. we had one today that caentered only 2 miles from my house here in NJ. It was a whopping 2.7 and they actually activated the reverse 911 to inform everyone what had happened. I didnt even feel it. I was reading the local news and saw that there were also earthquakes today in Maui, washington, and Delaware too. Think that means anything alot of these places never get earthquakes.

The USGS has been carefully monitoring the seismic activity for a really long time and they've definitely noticed an increase in the past few years. Whether that will mean a major quake or volcanic event is hard to say but they seem to be in favor of it. Certain places are long overdue for both. You can look at the patterns on earthquake.usgs.gov The hazard maps are pretty interesting. -- Silver, 03:58:07 07/03/09 Fri (h113.2.130.174.dynamic.ip.windstream.net/174.130.2.113)
