Subject: Old Grace Church on Church Lane & 92nd

I was born in Canarsie in 1940, was christened in the old Grace Church. My Grandparents, Phillips, and Great grandparents Schumacher attended, as well as many other family members. I remeber the Sunday School, the Anniversary day parades, the ice cream and fun we fun. Vacation Bible Scool was always fun too, and we used to leave 115 to go to church I think on Wednesday afternoons for religious instruction. Canarsie was great and the old Grace Church was great too. It was a large part of my life for many years. Loved the stained glass indows, and remember when we got pews instead of the old folding movie theatre type chairs. Great memories of some wonderful Christian people from those days. I attended from an infant until I left in 1959 to go to school in NJ (college). Got married in 61
