what kind of piston do u use to build a 383 is it just a reg 350 piston with 5.7 rod and the 400 crank truned down just need a lil in fo

The piston has a raised pin location so as to not push the piston above the deck. It will also depend on what rod length you use as well. Special for the 383. I just put my 383 together about two months ago. Got about 300 miles on it so far.
