Ashes Tickets -- TSW, 1/06/06 20:19:20 [2] (82-44-178-127.cable.ubr05.haye.blueyonder.co.uk/82.44.178.127)
Tickets only went on sale today and they`re already knocking about on ebay for silly money. I`ve been lucky enough to go on every Ashes tour since 90-91 and I wont be going this winter which I`m gutted about but if anyone on here is going for the first time its absolutely brilliant. They reckon between 30-40,000 are expecting to travel and despite the aussies trying to stitch us up about the ticketing arrangements I reckon huge numbers will make Melbourne and Sydney seem like home games.

Who decided we had to come on here? -- Pickn, TFI Moderator who knew nothing about it, 25/05/06 20:22:26 [6] (host86-141-126-155.range86-141.btcentralplus.com/86.141.126.155)
Who decided that we couldn't talk cricket on TFI? At least 10 TFI regulars are also cricket lovers. If fan can post his nonsense and Bill can post his then I vote we post cricket where we all go which ios TFI, I dont want to dilute the TFI traffic and see no reason to. There's plenty of stuff on TFI i dont like to read but this in my opinion is a step to far so Im going to post my cricket info on TFI if I want to and have the argument there.

Posted on T.F.I since it started and I have to say as a cricket nut as well as a Fulham fanatic that I`m a little disappointed that we have to come on here. I always liked the fact that on T.F.I you could post about a number of subjects, including cricket and music and it was nice to see that there were a lot of like minded people on there. I completely appreciate that T.F.I is a Fulham FC board and a lot of people couldn`t give a shit about cricket but there is stuff on there that bores me and I just scroll past. Getting back to cricket I had my Fulham St George in Australia for the last Ashes series and when I had it up at the SCG about five groups of people came up and asked to have their photo taken in front of it so a lot of us love cricket as well

And Monty's just dropped a dolly. Fletcher won't stand for his comedy act for long. I'd bear with him, but I can see him being phased out, losing confidence and disappearing into the hole that Chris Schofield stumbled into, and James Anderson has only recently emerged from. (NT) -- Toucan, Thursday, May 25, 02:37:02pm
As good as his bowling is, he'll get sluaghtered in Oz which will undoubtedly impact on what he's good at! No matter what you think of Giles' bowling, he adds a balance to the team which we'll need in the winter. Whoops - sorry cricket post!! (NT) -- HBB, Thursday, May 25, 02:43:55pm
Without a doubt the Ashes will be sink or swim for him, should he make the trip. Unfortunately I know next to nothing about the county scene, is there anyone other than Giles worthy of consideration? Monty at least has youth on his side, although I can't see him ever being put anywhere but hidden at long leg in the immediate future. CMJ jnr seems to take a lot of wickets for (the mighty) Sussex, is he worth a shout? Is he even a spinner? (NT) -- BalDrick, Thursday, May 25, 03:00:35pm
Panesar is the only spin bowler out there really of any quality - Loudon, Batty and Blackwell float around the county scene but are someway behind Monty but at least can all hold a bat and catch! The ECB have appionted a specialist spin bowler and will probably get to work with the England U19's etc but I think for the next coupld of years, it'll be pretty much what we've got now. CMJ Jnr is a relatively decent all-rounder who bowls a pretty decent medium paced seam- can't see him ever pushing for England contention. (NT) -- HBB, Thursday, May 25, 03:24:42pm
I think there's room in a test team for a genuine wicket taking spinner who can't bat or field provided he's top draw. Too early to tell if that's Monty but
I'd persevere.. (NT) -- Tony Gilroy, Thursday, May 25, 03:29:02pm
Agreed (NT) -- HBB, Thursday, May 25, 03:32:41pm
Agree about Giles...Presume we can comment on Sport at this time of year! (NT) -- Walt, Thursday, May 25, 03:00:30pm

Well after being shunted over here as only allowed to talk about football on the main site (what football is there to talk about!?), Panesar gets a wicket in his first over!!
Fair play as you can't criticise his bowling style at all.

Congratulations -- Doodles, 16/05/06 13:04:24 [1] (gateway-202.energis.gsi.gov.uk/195.92.40.49)
Firstly, to Geraint Jones for being the second fastest test keeper in history for getting to 100 wickets and 1,000 runs. And secondly to Sri Lanka for an amazing batting performance to stave off a defeat that at one point looked likely to end the test by tea time on Saturday.

Cricket news................... -- Bill........................., 1/05/06 19:04:18 [3] (cache-los-ac07.proxy.aol.com/195.93.21.71)
Surrey snatched a thrilling one-run win over Kent to claim their first victory in this season's C&G Trophy.
Ali Brown's 64 off 43 balls and 52 from Jonathan Batty led Surrey to 223-5 in a game shortened to 30 overs per side.
Darren Stevens (67) and Neil Dexter (94) gave Kent a flying start with a stand of 137 but Jade Dernbach and Ian Salisbury turned the game around.
They took three wickets each as Kent fell from 187-1 to 188-5 and, despite James Tredwell's 14, it proved crucial.

Off sick from work the other day, what better way to spend time than by watching the Ashes 2005 DVD?
After detailed notes and careful analysis, I now feel in a position to name my three favourite moments from last year's epic.
3) Harmison rocks Ponting on the first morning of the first test, cutting the Aussie captain's cheek. None of the English players run up to check if Ponting is ok - a sign of intent.
2) Gary Pratt. Need I say more?
1) Flintoff's epic over (Old Trafford?) - gets Langer out with his second ball, then peppers Ponting, appealing every ball, until he gets the edge with the last. Too good for the world's best batsman.
Anyone have anything to add?

Dunno much about them...are they meant to be any good? Jason Gillespie managed to get an unbeaten double century in the second Test against them.
