Accepting Applications for State Directors -- Anonymous, 07:57:19 05/11/11 Wed

American Spirit Pageants is now taking applications for state directorships. Now is your chance to direct your own pageant! Franchise agreements under the system are leased for between $2500 and $5000 a year, depending upon the size of the state. Once the franchise is secured the director takes on the rights and responsibilities for directing four separate divisions in his or her state pageant. The divisions include “Miss Teen”, “Miss”, “Ms.” and “Mrs.” The competition for all four divisions is held during the same pageant weekend. In some larger states the director may consider breaking the pageant into two separate weekends. The bottom line, however, is that having a number of divisions in one pageant makes this a real money making opportunity. American Spirit Pageants provides the outline and guidance to make each state pageant successful. It also provides marketing support, including a state pageant website and online marketing. Further, ASP provides a great national pageant experience.

American Spirit Pageants is the only national system that includes charitable fundraising as part of the judged competition (along with swimwear, evening gown and interview). Funds raised this year go to the HAVlife Foundation, which creates opportunities for “at risk” children to participate in arts and athletic programs. Last year, the pageant’s philanthropic twist attracted a number of celebrities as judges and performers. It was emceed by television and film personality, Mario Lopez. Nearly three thousand people attended the Finals. On the heels of such success, ASP is stepping things up another notch. The next national competition will be held at the Coronado Springs Resort in Walt Disney World, Orlando, Florida. Delegates to the national competition will be selected from the various state pageants.

Halloween Stories for 2009 -- Anonymous, 13:36:08 10/12/09 Mon

Rather my mother had not borne me than that this grim remembrance be the price of life! I blame myself for horrors seen, my friend–for horrors merely endured. Such endurance was a sin itself. Had I had the courage of my brother Yves to end it, the first time at Smolensk, I ought. I recall the very musket shot that rang out in the woods. I see his tear-stained and beloved face beg for the mercy I could bestow, and I did, and stripped him there on the field and took his clothing for my sorry rags. His feet came away in his boots. I thought I would bring up my very lungs, so great was the stench. My heart I left there with him in the mud and blood and promised I would tell our mother only that he loved her.

We were an army of the living dead. Our glorious songs, long silenced in our parched throats, had been choked in heat and dust. Our eyes, painful and encrusted, saw only death, not battle. Columns before us foraged all they could take. Cattle behind us died of stroke and dearth. Then came the rains and wagons of supplies were swallowed, horses-whole in claggy mud.

Our enemy led us on a-dance. They stood to fight one day, then disappeared like spirits into the night, deeper beyond Smolensk, until we stood depleted in the midst of ruin in Moscow. Nothing of value was there. Great works of art, silver and fine goods there were a-plenty but what are those to hunger? I saw many a wagon laden with suchlike trinkets, abandoned soon upon the road. I took a Russian coat and some good cloth to wrap my feet against the coming cold. I ate a dog that was half starved like me–remembered how we’d thought ourselves so poor, back in my mother’s house where there was bread and beer. Now I wished only to see her face once more and feel her gentle hand upon my head and the warmth of her tears for my brother. That would have been sustenance enough.

We left Moscow burning and turned back along that desolated path whence we had come. Southern lands were full of plenteous harvest but our number was now small. We were forced to follow the Baltic Route west. The bloated corpses of those who had perished on the assault became pillows to bivouac. Discarded weapons littered the way. Men too weak to fight need no weapons. Many I saw drop and never rise again for lack of will. I saw them stripped naked before they’d exhaled their final breath, nor did they curse their looters. We did not smell or taste or feel or weep for we had no saliva or tears. Alas! I would cry yet if I could.

Smolensk the second time was execrable. I have not told you of the freezing cold; minus thirty on November 11th. My feet no longer hurt for want of feeling but remembering my dear brother, I did not remove my bindings; such was my fear. That night I wished to die but I chose to survive. I will never forget that night. I crawled towards a faint snorting noise in the dark and suddenly my body came upon the great bulk of a fallen horse. I felt its breath warm but uneven and knew neither of us might live out the night. So, I took my knife and slit its belly open and it screeched so that I cannot forget the sound. I put my mouth to its warm blood that oozed. I took its entrails in my hands and dragged them from it, living, and inside I crawled for warmth, curled up as it were my mother’s womb.

Ah, God forgive me! I cannot look her in the face again. After that date, I dined on human flesh. So tell me, of those 600,000 souls, can I truly say this soul survived?

Get rid of bed breath.(gdes-311) -- Anonymous, 11:06:22 09/01/09 Tue

Bad breath (halitosis) is a common problem which often comes from the activity of bacteria in the mouth. Although there is no way of knowing for sure, most adults probably suffer from bad breath occasionally, with perhaps a quarter suffering on a regular basis. Bad breath is a sure-fire way to send potential suitors scrambling for the exits. Chances are, that yummy chicken you enjoyed at lunch is still hanging around in your mouth, which can cause less-than-pleasant-smelling bacteria to form, especially on your tongue. Our bad-breath weapon of choice is a tongue scraper, which some say resembles a medieval torture implement but is actually a disposable U-shaped plastic tool with tiny ridges on one side. It's very easy to use, and it will help clear away any leftover food and odor-causing bacteria that have settled on your tongue. Starting at the back of your mouth, gently drag the scraper along your tongue two or three times, rinsing it in between each pass. visit: http://www.essortment.com/all/howdoigetrid_rgat.htm

Under the Official Languages Act, Canada is an officially bilingual country. This means that Canadians have the right to get federal government services in English or French, no matter what part of Canada they are living in. New Brunswick is the only province that is officially bilingual.New Brunswick residents receive services in both official languages from all of their provincial government departments and agencies. In Quebec, French is the official language and in most cases, provincial and municipal services are provided in French. In the other provinces and territories, English is the official language, and the availability of provincial services in both official languages varies. At the municipal level, the availability of services in both official languages varies greatly. visit: http://settlement_in_canada.sitesled.com/biling.htm

A Grim Win! (Part 17)-Sierra Emerald -- Anonymous, 14:14:44 04/28/09 Tue

Natalie was frightenly speechless. The woman grabbed Natalie’s arms causing her to see the past as she continued speaking. “Does Miss Vermont Starr spawn any memories?” The woman asked. Natalie was too paralyzed in fear to responded. This caused the woman to scornfully grab her by both sides of her face causing Natalie to instantly be reminded of the incident. Seeing the mysterious woman crowned as Miss Vermont Starr as Natalie was first runner up caused Natalie’s disappointment to turn into jealous rage. But her rage was patiently held until the 4th of July parade which was two months away. Seeing the woman along in the dressing room re touching her makeup, she crept in unheard, bashing the woman’s skull with a large rock, placing her body in an evening gown bag and into her car to throw her in the river. The woman whose name is “Shannon Fuller” body was discovered 2 weeks later as Natalie went undetected as she took Shannon’s place as queen. “Did you really think I wouldn’t come back?” asked Shannon. “are pageant titles really worth taking a person’s life?” she scolded. “You should understand.” Natalie frightenly answered. The opportunities, the prestige, it had to be mine!” This answer made Shannon furious causing her to backhand slap Natalie across the old cemetery. “You idolize materialism and fame! So for that God sent me to repay you! You are to remain far away from others and from any title! You are to be prisoned here forever! Natalie trembled in fear but tried to run. As she tried to run, the three ghosts blocked her direction. Continuing to try and run away the ground turned into a muddy heap. “NOOOO!!!!!!!” screamed Natalie as Shannon wore a grim smile while floating in the air swiftly. She entered Natalie’s body causing it to change into a decayed snow white color. Her eyes turned socketless and instantly became inhabited by worms. Her teeth became fanged and rotten. Meanwhile Miss North NY and the rest of the finalists headed out to the queen’s dinner. “There she is! I’m so proud of you!” cried Natalie’s mother while walking with Leanna and her mother. “We’ll be here for the dinner but then we have to go back home. Said Leanna’s mother. It’s been so exciting we have to keep in touch., she continued. “We’ll always stay in touch right Natalie/” Leanna happily asked. “Yes.” She cheerfully answered while nodding her head as she quickly glanced at her gold and pearl bracelet which reads “Shannon F”. THE END!

A Grim Win (Part 16) Sierra Emerald -- Anonymous, 14:33:24 03/23/09 Mon

As Smooth Tune performed, the top 6 waited backstage. The five tried their best to refrain from laughing when thinking of Miss NJ’s answer. When she saw their amused looks, she became annoyed. “What?” she asked sassily. But no one answered. “Alright ladies get ready!”, smiled Nick. The ladies made a line to head back onstage. “That was Smooth Tune!” exclaimed Nick to a cheerful audience. “Now let’s have our top 6 come back to the stage!” All six dazzled the stage to the excited crowd. “GOOOOO Natalie!!!!” cheered her mom along with Leanna’s mother. “Before we announce out top 5 and winner, let’s bring out Miss 2007 Northeastern Beauty Margaret Sarchow!” cheered Nick. Margaret graced the stage in style wearing a gold sequin spaghetti strapped gown. Her dark hair was styled in a french roll as curls adorned the top of her haed. Her rhinestones bordered sash sparkled as her tape recorded speech played. The audience gave her a standing ovation while watching the screen which shown her appearances and model photoshoots during her reign. Tears of bittersweetness rolled down her eyes as she walked the stage waving. A pageant staff member brought her a bouquet of roses as her family and boyfriend have her the loudest support. “So Miss Sarchow” asked Nick “What are your future plans?” I have a two year contract offer CBS as an actress for the Young and the Restless soap. I also have one year contract as a spokesmodel for Revlon!” smiled Margaret. “Wow!: cried Nick as the audience cheered. “Are your going to miss being Miss Northeastern Beauty?” he asked. “That’s a stupid question!” she laughed as the audience cheered. “Of course I am!, she smiled. “But in the time of life were destined to move on to bigger and better things. But I will certainly miss my reign because I enjoyed it soooooo much!” Margaret happily continued. “We’re all gonna miss you too!” smiled Nick as the audience cheered and applauded. “Now what we’ve been waiting for, the announcement of the 2008 Miss Northeastern Beauty!!!” exclaimed Nick. “I have the envelope! Coming in 5th place is… Miss North NJ!” Roses, a plaque and rhinestone sash was given to her as the audience cheered even though she curled her eyes due to disappointment. Nick continued “4th place is Miss South Massachusetts, 3rd place is Miss South Deleware, 2nd place is Miss North Conn. They all received roses, a plaque, and a rhinestone banner to an estactic audience. “I just want to note that the finalists all receives real prizes! More than just roses and plaques!” laughed Nick. “They will receive $1000 cash, photo shoot with Supermodels Unlimited and Pageantry Magazine, $500 gift certificate to Elegant Queen evening wear, $100 gift certificate to Make Me Beautiful Cosmetics, just to name a few!” he continued. “Now were down to the last two!” exclaimed Nick to a roaring audience. “Who will it be? Will it be Miss North NY? Or perhaps Miss North Vermont?” They both wore the happiest smiles as they held hands for luck and support. “Now the first runner up will receive $2000 and of course if the winner can’t fulfill her duties, the first runner up will take her place. First runner is…. Miss North…..Vermont! You’re Miss new Miss Northeastern Beauty is Miss North NY!!!!” She leaped in excitement and surprise while Margaret placed and extravagant crown on her head to an extremely excited audience. Natalie was given roses, a plaque and rhinestone sash. The stage rained balloons and confetti as the song “All because of you: by Neeyo played. All the contestants ran onstage to congratulate the winner and top 5. Pageant photograhers took photos of the exciting stage moments. Natalie and Leanna’s mother ran to the stage joyously. “I’m so proud of you!” exclaimed Natalie’s mother. Even though Natalie was disappointed for not winning queen, she still remained excited as first runner up. “CONGRATULATIONS!” cheered Leanna as she hugged Natalie. “Thank you!” Natalie happily said. “$2000, modeling opportunities, a new gown, oh I would love those gifts!” Leanna exclaimed. “Congratulations Natalie!” cried Leanna’s mom. “So glad your answer was much smarter than that North Jersey girl!” smiled Leanna’s mom as Leanna, Natalie, and her mother laughed. “Ok ladies we’re gonna need to take some stage photos and you still have an interview with the host of Reality TV!” smiled Mrs Philmore. “I thought it would be you that won!” smiled Miss North NY as she hugged Natalie. “How does it feel to be getting $5000 cash?” Natalie asked. “Oh my God! I’m lucky to have $50 in free cash!” lauhed Miss North NY as Natalie smiled. The winner and finalists all stood on stage to take photos after the stage cleared from the crowd. After photos were taken, the host of the show Reality TV interviewed Miss North NY. (continuance will be posted later on today.)

The finalists were also interviewed about their time at the pageant. “I enjoyed my time here! Win or lose, I felt like the director cares about the contestants smiled Miss North NY. “The whole time wasn’t work work work! There were fun activities!” Natalie added. “You know Miss North NJ, your final answer has been posted on youtube with over 10,000 views!” said the host. “What?!” How did that happen already?” she scolded before storming away from the interview as Miss NY and the finalists laughed. After the interview, the girls were allowed to gather their things from the dressing room. “We’ll be waiting out here!” exclaimed Natalie’s mother. “Ok!” Natalie happily said. As she went backstage to change clothes, she was suddenly stopped by Mrs Philmore. “Don’t change out of your gown just yet. There’s a queen and finalist dinner.” “Oh yeah I forgot!” smiled Natalie. As she continued walking to the dressing room holding her roses and plaque, she saw Miss North NY sitting alone talking o n her cell phone to her family telling them the exciting news. Natalie looked at her plaque and the back of Miss North NY’s head. “I wouldn’t do that if I were you!” scolded a female voice as Natalie was mysteriously taken to the old cemetery again. While in the cemetery, the three ghosts began to rapidly fly around her head as they laughed. As soon as she looked down from the ghosts, the strange, goury woman appeared. With eyeless sockets, decayed snow white skin, waist length black hair and black mud infested teeth, she said “You don’t remember me do you?” Natalie was frightingly speechless. The woman grabbed Natalie’s arm causing her to see the past as the woman continued speaking.

A Grim Win! (Part 15)-Sierra Emerald -- Anonymous, 15:22:09 03/05/09 Thu

The six contestants not chosen left the stage as the chosen six remained. “Were down to the final six!” cheered Margaret as the two pageant officials rolled a table on stage with a large clear globe like bowl on stage. In the bowl contained small notes of questions inside. The top 6 were required to choose a question out of it. “Now were going to ask Miss North NY to come up and pick a question out of the bowl.” Smiled Nick. North NY approach the bowl with poise. Reaching inside the bowl, she grabbed a note from the middle of the pile. After getting the note, Nick politely took it from her. “The question reads “There are former pageant queens posing for nudity magazines. In your view, is this a great way to reach fame and success?”, Nick asked. With a smile on her face, North NY answered. “It is no way to reach fame and success. The body is to be respected and cherished. One the mystery of a person’s nudity is shown for all the world to see, the mystery is over and the next person’s body is lusted after. This leaves the centerfold to continue other aspects of nudity to continue success. “Thank you Miss North NY!” cheered Nick as the audience heavily cheered and applauded. Miss North NY walked back to her spot on stage as Miss South Massachusetts was asked to come forth. After choosing a question from the bowl, Nick read it out loud. “This question reads “Miss America’s queen is not required to wear her crown when making appearances and while crowning her successor. Do pageants like Miss America sending a mixed message? Miss South Massachusetts answered “ I think it does send a mixed message. To me, it seems like the winner is ashamed of being a pageant queen!” After she said this, the audience cheered in support as Miss South Mass smiled. “Pageants are about doing your best win the honor of being queen. With that comes the responsibility of doing charity tasks, speaking at events and keeping morale. The titles send positive messages so why can’t we keep our crowns on?” “Thank you Miss South Massachusetts!” smiled Nick as the audience cheerfully applauded. “Now let’s have Miss North Vermont grace our presence.” smiled Nick. “Natalie!!!!!” cheered her mom and Leanna’s mom as the rest of the audience cheered. She reached in the bowl to choose a question. “Ok the question reads: “Tara Connor was given a second chance by Donald Trump to continue her regin as Miss USA in 2006. Do you think the decision was fair although other pageant winners titles are stripped if rules are broken?” Natalie was relived to receive a question that was easy for her so she answered “Second chances are extremely important if it helps the title holder improve her behavior, but it depending on the degree of rule breaking, I feel title stripping is necessary if the title holder continues her immoral demeanor which will eventually lead to other title holders following her decisions.” Her mother and Leanna’s mother cheerfully applauded. “Yeeeah!!!!!!” GO NATALIE!” Her mom happily shouted. Now let’s have North Conn come down and while she comes down, Margaret will read the rest of the questions of the remaining three. Miss North Conn reached into the bowl to picked a question. Unlike the others, she decided to choose question at the very top. “Your question reads”, said Margaret “Many people feel a college degree is the only road to success. Do you agree?” Miss North Mass answered “I feel it is not the only method to success. Our destinies are not a “one size fit all”. “However a college degree does make the road to corporate success easier getting a person’s foot in the corporate door faster over others who do not have degrees.” smiled Margaret. Miss South Delaware reached to the very bottom of the bowl for her question. “Her question reads” said Margaret “Is teaching abstinence unrealistic?” Miss South Delaware answered “It is not unrealistic to teach. But like teach someone the dangers of playing with matches or lighters, the person must be taught what to do in case of a fire. So as with abstinence one has to be taught the importance of safe sex in case one falls into an intimate direction.” Smiled Miss Delaware to cheering audience and smiling judges. “Our last but not least finalist, Miss North NJ.” smiled Margaret. Miss North NJ reached into the middle of the bowl to pick her question. “Your question reads” smiled Margaret “How important is ethnic diversity in America?” Miss South NJ answered “Very important! I love Tacobell and BBQ chicken! Hola! Gutentag! My best friend’s housekeeper is Chinese! She makes the best Mongolian chicken!” smiled Miss North NJ to a puzzled audience as some laughed. “That dumb whore!” laughed Leanna. “Oh God! How on earth did she make it?” asked Miss West Virginia. “Those double silicone D’s!” smiled Miss North DC. “Stick with Miss Hooter’s sister!” said Miss South NY. With a light puzzled look on her face, Margaret continued. “That concludes our top 6.” Natalie wanted to heavily laugh so bad but remained poised. “As scores are tabulated, we’ll have the contestants leave the stage as SmoothTune perform another one of their hits!” cheered Nick to a joyful audience.

The color change of her skin cause Natalie to feel a brush of intense fear. “No not at finals!” she fearfully said to herself. “Get ready for swimwear Miss North Vermont.” Urged a pageant staff member. She saw her skin appear normal again and hurried for the swimsuit competition. Each of the 10 finalists graced the stage in classy demeanor to an approves audience and judge panel, Natalie dazzled the judges in her red rhinestoned trimmed bikini. “You doing good Natalie!” cheered her mother as Leanna’s mother chered. Meanwhile other contestants had the option to sit in the audience contestants reserved seating or stay backstage and watch the monitors. “I’m outta here!” snapped Miss South NJ. “What?” asked Miss North WV.” I gave my best and got looked for Miss North Conn. “Come on who wears a country tablecloth design bikini? Did you see her gown walk? SOOO fixed!” Sassed Miss South NJ as she packed her belongings to leave. “Don’t be so sore Jersey.” Said Miss South New Hampshire. Different judges, different opinions.” Miss North Massachusetts added “Yeah we did our best. If there were another set of judges, there would probably be a different top 12! I had so much fun competitng and partying and I’ll do it again if I could!” Miss South NJ curled her eyes and left. “I can never understand sore losers.” Said Miss South NH as other contestants back stage looked on.” Where‘s she going?’ Leanna asked after walking into the room. “That concludes our swimsuit category!” cheered Margaret. “My favorite category!” smiled Nick. “Now as contestants prepare for evening gown, let’s take notice of out visiting queens. Miss 2007 Northeastern Beauty, Miss 1999 Northeastern Beauty, 2008 Summer Bikini Queen, Miss 2000 USA Beauty, Miss 1995 Elegant Woman of the Year, and Miss 2008 Regal Glamour! Let’s give them all a hand tonight!” cheered nick. “They’re all so gorgeous!” smiled Margaret as the spotlight adorned the visiting queens. “Now let’s enjoy the incredible talent of the 2008 North American College Cheerleading Squad – the Ravens!” The Raven squad did a spectacular performance as the audience cheered. As they performed, the top 12 hurrily got ready for the evening gown competition. “Come on ladies let’s step it up!” cried a pageant staff member. “You were perfect!” exclaimed Leanna to Natalie. “Thanks! I don’t knoe if I’m more nervous now or at preliminaries!” she said as Leanna smiled. The evening gown competition started as the applauding audience were delighted to see each of the top 12. Natalie as absolutely exquisite while looking very poised and confident. During the evening gown competition, Smooth Tune performed and also performed as contestants got ready for talent. Backstage was a circus as contestants rushed into their talent outfits. Some of the contestants that were not chosen helped some of the top 12. “Miss North Main was getting comforted as she disappointment drove her to tears. “I really wanted this.” She said while sobbing. “But you’re still state queen!” said Miss South Rhode Island in a comforting way as one of the top 12 Miss South DC hugged her. “Are you ready?” Leanna asked Natalie. “Redy as ever!” smiled Natalie. Each of the top 12 performed their talents superbly. Natalie’s jazz dance routine to the song “My Strongest Suit” was even better than in the preliminary performance. After going backstage, Natalie got dressed in her evening gown again to be ready for the announcement of the top 6. “That was excellent!” exclaimed Leanna. “You better make the top 6!” she smiled. “I hope so!” laughed Natalie. The smell of buffalo wings ruled the air which was eaten by some of the contestants that was not in the top 12. “Do you have to eat those back here?” asked Miss North Conn. “Are you kidding me? Hell yeah!” smiled Miss South NY. “Give me some more chunky bleu cheese.” asked Miss North DC. As Natalie headed towards the stage, she was suddenly in the graveyard that haunted her dreams.

Wind whisked her hair and gown as the three ghosts rapidly encircled her. “What do you want!” she demanded. When she looked at her hands, they were the color of snow white and looked decayed. Her eyes became socketless as black worms and black mud spilled from her mouth and dripped onto her dress. This horrific scene caused her to let out a huge scream. Suddenly she appeared backstage in the place before appearing at the graveyard. “Are you ladies ready”, asked a pageant staff member to the top 12. They all smiled yes as they were ready to go out on stage. “Now it’s time for the announcement of the top 16 and final questions. The top 12 too the stage to an estatic audience. Each of the 12 lined in a row and held hands for luck. “Let’s give these ladies a big round of applause!” cheered Nick as the audience roared. “Now it’s time to announce the top 6! Scoring is from swimsuit, evening wear and talent. Good luck to each of you!”, smiled Margaret. “In no particular order the first contestant is “Miss North NY, second is Miss South Massachusetts, third is Miss North Vermont!” announced Margaret. “GO NATALIE!!!!!!”exclaimed her mother as she and Leann’s mother leaped to their seats.
Nick continued “Fourth contestant is Miss North Connecticut, fifth is Miss South Deleware, and out sixth finalist is Miss North New Jersey! “That whore!” snapped Leanna since North New Jersey is a friend of Renee. The audience cheerfully roared to the top 6 contestants. “All of you were excellent!”, Nick happily said.

History of Canada(ODD2226) -- Anonymous, 07:33:18 01/09/09 Fri

Canada is a land of many cultures and many peoples. Aboriginal peoples have occupied the territory now called Canada for several thousands of years. Everybody else, either by birth or by descent, has been an immigrant - we have all come from somewhere else. It has been said that Canada is a "nation of immigrants."There are three main groups of Aboriginal peoples in Canada: the First Nations, the Inuit and the Métis. There are more than 50 different languages spoken by Canada's Aboriginal peoples, most of which are spoken only in Canada. In fact, the name "Canada" may have come from the word "Kanata," which means a settlement in the language of the Huron-Iroquois First Nations peoples. As a country, Canada came into being on July 1, 1867. This event is known as "Confederation." Before 1867, the French arrived first, then the British. Each brought their own language, system of government, laws and culture. In 1763, after a long war between the British and the French, all of Canada came under British rule and was known as "British North America." In the late 18th and into the 19th century, during and after the time of the American Revolution, many African-Americans and United Empire Loyalists fled the United States for Canada, where British ties remained and slavery had been abolished. During the mid- to late 19th and early 20th century, waves of immigrants arrived from Europe, attracted by the opportunity of a new and better life in Canada. Some settled in towns and cities; others worked in factories, mines and lumber camps. Many were farmers who turned the Prairie region into wheat fields. Asian immigrants from China, Japan and India settled mainly in the western provinces during this time. Many immigrants helped build Canada's national railways, which joined the east and west coasts and opened up the interior for settlement. After both world wars, thousands of Europeans came to Canada as immigrants and refugees and helped build Canada's post-war economy. Over the last 50 years, people from all over the globe have sought a better life or have sought refuge in Canada, fleeing civil wars, political unrest and natural disasters. Canada still needs the skills, talents and enthusiasm of newcomers to build our country, together with those who have come before them. All of this has been reflected in Canada's immigration and refugee policies. Today, Canada is home to immigrants from more than 240 countries. Most newcomers decide to become citizens of Canada, after they are settled and have met the requirements of Canadian citizenship. visit: http://settlement_in_canada.sitesled.com/history.htm

A Grim Win! (part 13)- Sierra Emerald -- Anonymous, 13:29:27 01/08/09 Thu

“Oh God please let this be on Youtube!” cried Leanna as Natalie and their mother laughed at the news footage. “I’m glad to know Renee is doing fine.” Exclaimed Mrs Philmore. “But let this me a lesson to all of you contestants. Take the things you need at the right times to prevent sabotaging yourself.” She continued. “But tonight is finals and let’s have a great show!” After speaking, Mrs Philmore turned on jazzy music during the luncheon as everyone continued to dine and mingle. As 4:00 approached the luncheon attendance decreased in order to get ready for finals. “You have all your things packed up/” asked Natalie’s mother. “Of course!”, Natalie happily replied. “We better get going so we can be in the ballroom by 5.” Smiled Leanna as she as Natalie were leaving their seats. “We’ll see you two at 6:00.” Said Leanna’s mother cheerfully. Natalie and Leanna headed upstairs to change clothes. All the contestants were required to wear black shorts, pageant T-shirt, pantyhose and heels. They both discussed Renee being on the news. “ Could you believe that?” asked Leanna very surprisingly. “She got what she deserved.” Snapped Natalie. “I’m going to watch that over and over again exclaimed Leanna as Natalie laughed. After getting ready, they both took all their outfits in their suitcases and evening gown bags to proceed to go to the pageant ballroom. Other contestants were also in the ballroom to wait for Myron to review the opening number dance steps with them. The contestants were all dressed up in their introwear and mingled in the ballroom together. Myron started the dance review at 5:00. “Ok girls, let’s go over what we should already know.” They went over their intros and dance steps until 5:45. During that time they were all told to go backstage. People were lined up outside the ballroom awating to see pageant finals. “This is it! It’s almost time to see who made top 10!” smiled Miss South DC. “I can’t wait to hear the results!” said Leanna in a excited tone. “I hope they are all deserving!” smiled Natalie. “Yeah no politics!” said Miss South NY as they laughed. “I need you all to line up!” said a pageant staff member. All the contestants lined up and were ready to await the stage. As the audience filled the seats, Margaret Sarchow and the co-host Nick Walker who hosts the TV Show “Reality TV”. The reality TV crew filmed inside the ballroom and outside the dressing room which lead to the stage. The lights in the ballroom went dim as a thunderous applause erupted. “Welcome to the 2008 Miss Northeastern Beauty Pageant finals!” said Margaret excitedly just before the stage lights turned on. “Let’s start the show with the smooth sounds of Smooth Tune!”, exclaimed Nick. As Smooth Tune performed, each contestant was instructed to go onstage and introduce themselves. As each contestant walked onstage to say their names and states, the audience roared in excitement. Natalie and Leanna’s mother heavily cheered for them on their feet. After intros, contestants went back onstage to perform the dance number. They all did an excellent job as the audience gave great support. After the dance number contestants remained onstage as Nick and Margaret instructed the audience of what’s next. “Here they are the 44 contestants for the 2008 Miss Northeastern Beauty Pageant!” cheered Nick. The audience gave a thunderous applause as some held up signs
of their favorite contestant.

“Now it’s time to announce the top 10!” said Margaret excitedly. “I know you’ve been awaiting this all weekend! Said Nick while grabbing the envelope from one of the judges. The contestants all held hands as they intensely awaited for the names to be called. “Our first contestants is Miss South Delaware! Second is Miss North Washington DC, third is Miss North New Jersey!” Leanna curled her eyes since Miss North NJ is a friend of Renee. Natalie refused to clap. “Fourth is Miss North NY, fifth is Miss South DC!” Leanna and Natalie both cheered for NY and DC. After Nick named the first five, Margaret proceeded to name the second five. “Our 6th finalist is Miss South Maine,
7th is Miss North West Virginia, 8th is Miss North Vermont. “Go Natalie!” cheered Leanna and Natalie’s mother and Leanna’s mother stood on their feet in excitement. Nineth contestant is Miss South Pennsylvania!” The contestants were all heavily awaing for the last name to be called. “The 10th finalist is Miss North Conneticut!” Nick also mentioned a surprise. “We have a twist this year! There will be a bonus two contestants!” The ladies were excited to hear about a bonus two contestants. “Our 11th finalist is Miss South Massachusetts and number 12 is Miss North New Hampshire! Due to a tie in interview, and the other categories, bonus contestants were required!”

Supporters of the top 12 leaped to their seats cheering very heavily. The remaining contestants left the stage as the top 12 stayed. “Now ladies get ready for the swimsuit competition, then there’s talent, evening gown, top 6 from the scores, final questions to the top 6, and the announcement of the top 5 and the winner.” said Margaret. After the top 12 went backstage, Leanna hugged Natalie. “Congrats girl!” said Leanna very happily as tears streamed down. “ I really wanted this! But you making it is like a piece of me did!” “You were killer competition! said Natalie. “I didn’t know I would make it this far!” After hugging again, Natalie noticed her face in the mirror reflection having the eyeless sockets with decayed skin the color of snow white. “Oh no!”, she gasped to herself. “Ok finalists! 10 mins to swimsuit!” reminded a pageant staff member.

A Grim Win (Part 12)-Sierra Emerald -- Anonymous, 14:25:33 12/01/08 Mon

At 6:00 am the girls finally fell asleep. Waking up to the noon sun, they all realized the luncheon was in two hours. “Oh I just want to stay in bed all day!”, murmured Miss South WV. “Natalie it’s your mom.” Said Miss North NJ. “Get back here! You have a luncheon to get ready for!” cried Natalie’s mother. “Is Leanna with you?” she asked. “Of course.” Said Natalie. “Tell her to get over here too because her mother is waiting for her to get ready!” said Natalie’s mother. “Alright were coming.” Natalie answered. After getting off the phone, she told Leanna that they needed to go back to their rooms. “This is it everybody!” cried Miss North NY. “Almost time for the top 10 to be announced. “I’m so nervous!” smiled Miss South DC as she freshened up with the rest of the girls. I heard there was a buffet breakfast this morning.” said Miss South Maine. “Extra sleep or breakfast? I choose sleep.” said Miss North NY. “Amen!” smiled Leanna. Well me and Natalie are heading back.” said Leanna “Ok see you at the luncheon!” said Miss North NY. We’ll be seeing you!” smiled Natalie as she and Leanna left out of the door. After getting to Natalie’s room, they were both rushed by their mothers. “Come on girls! We have less than two hours!” cried Natalie’s mother. “This is the dinner dress outfits right?” asked Leanna’s mother as Leanna nodded her head. Natalie took a shower and got dressed doing her hair and make up last. “As pretty as a pearl!” , cried Leannas mother to Natalie as Natalie smiled. “Are you curling your hair?” her mother asked. “I’ll just wear it straight.” Smiled Natalie as she wore her white and pinkish rose silk spring dress with thin straps. Leanna also took a shower and got dresses in her dining dress. “Will that contestant that fainted make it back?” asked Natalie’s mother. “She should if she only fainted from sleeping medicine; poor thing.”said Leanna’s mother “From her performance in swimwear, evening gown, and not competing in talent, she won’t be making the top 10!” said Natalie’s mother. “Need any help Leanna?” her mom asked. “I’m fine.” she said before coming out of the bathroom. “Look at you!”, smiled Natalie’s mother. “Very beautiful!” she Leanna smiled wearing her solid yellow thick strapped dress which criss crossed in back while her black permish curly black hair cascading down her back. “Let’s go ladies!” said Leanna’s mom cheerfully.

The luncheon was starting in 30 more minutes. The ballroom where the breakfast buffet was held was partially filled with contestants, family and friends. “Here we are! The same table we were at the beginning!”, smiled Natalie’s mother. The food smells so good!” said Leanna excitedly as she and Natalie saw steak, pork chops, baked chicken, grilled chicken, buttered fish (battered and non battered), lasagna, rice, gravy, macaroni and cheese, vegetable, breadrolls, fruits, cakes, pies, and beverages adorned the side tables of the ballroom. “It all looks so delicious!” smiled Natalie’s mother while she was mesmerized by the smell. “The ballroom began to fill up even more until there were no morte seats. The reality TV show crew came including Mrs Philmore and last year’s winner Margaret Sarchow. Please everyone help yourselves to the delectable gormet we have here!” cried Mrs Philmore. Many in the ballroom properly got inline to greet the extraordinary chow. As usual, some contestants only had fruits, vegetables and water, some a little temping foods, while other piled on the plates. Leanna was one of the ones
Piling it on as Natalie indulged a little. “I cannor resist girl.” Smiled Leanna as she filled her plate. “I better resist or they will be carrying me out of here on a crane.” Laughed Natalie. As most everyone in the ballroom returned to their tables to eat, Mrs Philmore started the announcments. “I like to thank you all for attending the luncheon. I klnow you are happy it started in the afternoon.” she said as some laughed. “As you all know, finals will be tonight at 6:00. But there will be a brief review of the opening dance number at 5:00. So contestants must be in the ballroom then. I also regret to inform you that Miss North Rhode Island Renee Taggart will not be joining us. She has withdrawn herself from the competition.” Said Mrs Philmore. Hearing this caused Natalie and Leanna to have the biggest grins on their faces. “But what I didn’t know was the incident aired on the local news!” said Mrs Philmore. Don’t believe me? Could you turn on the TV and show everyone?” she asked on the of the TV crew staff. “This was recorded last night” she continued. After turning on the TV, the recorded segment shown the report about Renee. “As a news cameraman, reporter, and two photographers were in Renee’s hospital room, she was asked about the incident. “Were you stressed Miss Taggert? Over worked?” asked the reporter. “Get outta here!” snapped Renee. “Get me my clothes!” Will someone get me my clothes?!” she demanded. “Pageant fans want to know will you continue with competing in the Miss North Eastern Beauty Pageant?”, the reporter asked. “NO! NO!! NO!!!!!! I WILL NOT!” she shouted. “I don’t go anywhere to lose! I go to win! Falling over fainting, walking dizzy in evening gown and swimwear, and not competing in talent! I’m NOT GOING!!!” she yelled. “There you have it viewers. Miss Morth Rhode Island has decided to drop out.” reported the journalist. “GET THE HELL OUTTA HERE!” yelled Renee as she threw chocolates here parents gave her. The reporter rushed out along with the cameraman and photographers as they flashed shots of Renee, her parents, younger sister, brother and older cousin. After seeing this segment. Some of the contestants, family and friends, burst out in laughter. Leanna and Natalie were swimming in tears of amusement. Margaret tried her best to keep her dignity along with Mrs Philmore, but tears chuckles managed to escape.

How to speed up metabolism . (ods1908 ) -- Anonymous, 01:44:52 11/27/08 Thu

Don't skip breakfast. You will lose weight more quickly if you have a bite to eat in the morning. Drink hot water with lemon Eat hot meals rather than cold. Your metabolism speeds up very slightly when you eat and again if the food is hot. Do at least thirty minutes of cardiovascular exercise, five days a week. This will condition you to burn fat more efficiently. Don't deprive your body of carbohydrates, no matter what they say.
You need carbs for energy and will feel terrible without them. Wear a pedometer and see that you take 1,000 steps every day. If you have a sit-down job, get up every hour and walk around for five minutes or so. Dedicate two hours a week to weight training, concentrating on the larger muscles. Every other day is optimal. visit: http://nikhar-e-arab.com/spendupmetabolism.html

Reduce Varicose Veins. (KDET-380) -- Anonymous, 13:07:15 11/25/08 Tue

Message Description:
High collars shortens necks. Tight tops with short sleeves and breast pocket is detracting from your figure. Shoes with straps shortens your legs. The torso can be shortened or narrowed with seam lines, belts, bows, and collars. A short necklace can shorten your neck. A scarf or belt that hangs down toward the legs will make the legs appear longer. Knitted texture, lace, floras, prints, and plaids can assist in creating an illusion. Thicker vertical lines in plaids lengthens and slims. Wear a larger print where you want people to look and smaller print where you do not want them to look. An all over print can camouflage figure problems, but prints here and there can create a fuller you. Prints around the neck and over the shoulder can make your shoulders appear wider. Just wear prints near the parts of your figure's assets, because they are usually more eye catching than a solid color. When buying pants be sure they fit well. Defects are emphasized in a pair of pants that may go unnoticed in a skirt. Petite women. Petite women need to keep clothes in line, slim narrow belts. A slight contrast in colors and fitted lines will flatter you endlessly. Also stay with fabrics that are soft and flowing that fits well. Over powering prints should be avoided. visit: http://nikhar-e-arab.com/fashionforyou.html

What is slimmer face.(ODO2210) -- Anonymous, 05:43:49 11/25/08 Tue

Make-up timeline : To ensure your eyes stay healthy and free of infection when using make-up, heed the following due-date rules. Throw out your mascara after three months, powder eye shadows every nine to 18 months, and cream eye shadows every six to 12 months. Sharpen your eyeliners often to keep them clean.
Mascara mistakes: To avoid mascara flake-off or smudging on your face, apply a thin cost of mascara to top lashes only. Then run an eyelash brush through lashes to prevent clumpy mascara build-up. Get a rosy glow: Want your face to radiate a healthy glow? Try using a gel blush or cream (instead of powder) in a rosy shade of pink to create a more natural look. Gels or creams are more transparent and blend smoothly – rub it on the apples of your cheek and blend up towards the eye for a glowing complexion. Minute manicure: Need a fast fix for unpolished nails? File nails into a square shape, buff them to create a bit of shine and apply a clear coat of polish. Next rub in cuticle oil around the edges of the nail and moisturize your whole hand. It takes less than 15 minutes and will give your appearance a polished look. Brow etiquette: The trend in eyebrows for this season is natural looking, not sparse and skinny. Use a tinted brow definer or eyeshadow to fill in scanty brows. Fix tired feet: Pamper your tired feet with a luxurious footbath. Fill a basin with warm water and add a few drops of essential oils. Next place marbles or small stones (found at your local garden centre) into the basin. Run your toes and soles of your feet over the marbles, and relax for 15 minutes. visit:http://www.nikhar-e-arab.com/slimfacemakeup.html

A Grim Win! (part 11)- Sierra Emerald -- Anonymous, 14:06:56 11/24/08 Mon

The after party lasted until 3am. The thought and wonder of who will make top 10 remained strongly in Natalie’s mind. “Aren’t you glad we don’t have to wake up early in the morning this time? Asked Leanna as she smiled. “Thanks God!”, smiled Natalie. “Slumber party in Miss North NJ’s room again!” exclaimed Miss North WV. “Im there!” cried Leanna as Natalie nodded along. As people gradually left the bar, both Natalie and Leanna headed up to North NJ’s room for the party. When they got there, lous music played as Miss North NY, South DC, South Maine, and South WV danced. “This pageant has been so exciting!” said Miss North NY. “I can’t wait until finals to see who made top 10!” said Leanna. “Renee was a shock! Fainted right onstage!” cried Miss South Maine as they all laughed. “Will that be on video? “ laughed Miss South WV. “Maybe?” said Leanna. “It’s her own fault anyway the starving slut.” said Miss North WV. “We need to keep in contact!” said Leanna. “Emails, phone numbers, we must stay in touch!” she continued while handing out a pen and paper so the girls could put their numbers or emails on it. “I got a surprise ladies!” said Miss North NY as she brought out a bottle of wine as everyone clapped. “Share the wealth!” cried Leanna. They all sat down to have a drink. As they dranked, Natalie began to see the girl’s eyes become socketless with fanged teeth as the wine boiled heavily in their glasses. The look of slight fear began to show on her face. “Natalie are you ok?” smiled Leanna as her eyes continued to appear socketless and teeth fanged. “Um, I just have to go to the restroom while quickly getting up and rushed away. While in the restroom, she leaned on the sink to gather her thoughts. Feeling a cold touch on her hands, Natalie noticed her hands were the color of snow white and decayed looking. “Oh no.” she said silently. When she looked in the mirror, the reflection shown her the image of the monstrous woman whose eyes were socketless, fanged teeth and with decayed skin the color of snow white appeared. “Who are you!” Natalie demanded. Seconds later the bathroom vanished to the graveyard that appeared in her dreams, The same 7ft tall ghosts flew around her in a circle causing her to fall to the ground. “Get away from me!” she shouted. After falling, she was instantly in the grave while lying in the coffin she dreamt of before pageant preliminaries. The deathly woman stood at the top of the grave as the three ghosts flew around. Natalie had her normal look again as wind blew even harder. Still extremely confused, Natalie let out a scream. “Natalie!”, cried Leanna as she opened the bathroom door and saw her lying on the floor. “are you alright?”, Leanna asked. “We heard you scream” said Miss South WV as Miss North NY and South Maine stood by. “Uh, I thought I saw a rat.” said Natalie. “A rat?” asked Miss Souith Maine. “Where?!” asked Leanna. “Just right there behind the door.” said Natalie as she pointed in the direction. Leanna checked behind the door only to see something else. “You mean this?” while picking up a piece of crumbled dark gray gift wrapping paper. “Um, yeah,” said Natalie. “Yeah I guess it kind of looks like a rat.” said miss South WV. “Come on girl!” said Leanna. It looks some someone had a little too much to drink” She continued as the rest of the girls laughed. After going back to the room, Natalie lied down on the bed with the ordeal heavily on her mind. “What time is finals anyway?” asked Miss South DC. “It’s at 6pm. But the luncheon is at 2pm. said Leanna “There’s a final question right?” asked Miss North DC. “Of course!” smiled Miss North NY. “I hope it’s not political.” signed Leanna. “Just ask about my hobbies!” she continued as they all laughed. “What do you think Natalie?” asked Miss North NY. “It doesn’t mater as long as it’s not anything controversial. You know? Abortion, same sex marriages, subjects like that.” “That’s a good point!” smiled Leanna. “I doubt any pageant would be dumb enough to ask that!” smiled Miss North DC. “It’s 4:30 am!” said Miss South WV. “Time flies!” said Leanna. “Are we doing the same dance routine for finals? Asked Miss South DC. “Yeah it’s going to be the same thing.” said Miss North NY. “Good!” smiled Miss South DC because I don’t feel like rehearsing for hours again!” said Leanna as she swaggered a little. “I must have had too much to drink!” said laughed as the other laughed along. “It’s after 4:30! Let’s keep it going!” cried Miss North DC as she, Miss North NY, South DC, and WV, as Leanna and Natalie rested.

A Grim Win (Part 10)-Sierra Emerald -- Anonymous, 14:13:16 10/14/08 Tue

During talent, contestants performed excellently. Miss South NY performed a ballet routine, Miss North Maine did a gymnastics routine to modern music, Leanna twirled a two baton act to the song "lovestoned" by Justin Timberlake. There was a variety of performances the audience adored. Natalie's jazz rotuine was superb. "Oh my God! I did it!" No mess ups!" cried Leanna excitedly. "You were perfect" smiled Natalie. "So were you girl!" responded Leanna cheerfully. "After party in the hotel bar/restaurant after competition!" cried Miss North Penn. "Let's have our contestants return to the stage!" exclaimed Nick. When all the contestants gathered onstage, they were given a standing ovation by the audience as the song "Piece of Me" by Britney Spears played. "We'll see you back here at 2:00 pm for the top 10 finals!" announced Margaret excitedly. As the audience left, some of the contestant's relatives and friends stayed behind. "You both did so good!" cried Natalie's mother as Leanna's mom smiled. After taking their things back to their rooms, both Natalie and Leanna attended the after party at the hotel. "This pageant was off the hook!" said Miss North Penn. This was the best one I competed in so far!" said Leanna as Natalie noded her head in agreement. While in the bar/restaurant, music played as some contestants danced and others mingled. There was delicious free food offered from pizza to burgers to cheesesteaks. In the middle of the soiree celebration, the monstrous woman in Natalie's dreams appeared in the middle of the restaurant. The appearance of the woman startled Natalie and caused her to realize she was the only one who could see her. When Natalie approached her, the woman disappered as Natalie felt a change on her hand which made it appear snow white and decayed. With a frightened look on her face, she saw the gholish woman go into the restroom of the restaurant. Natalie followed behind and called her out. "Who are you!?" Natalie demanded. "You appeared in my dreams and caused parts of my body to change hideous looking! Who in the hell are you?" she demanded. There was no answer. Her calls were quickly interupted by other contestants coming inside the restroom. "Oh hey Miss Vermont." said miss South DC. "Loved your performance!", she continued as she sang a part of the song Natalie performed to. "Thanks." smiled Natalie. After leaving the restroom, she sat back down to be joined by Leanna and Miss South NY and a few other contestants. "Who do you think is going to make the top 10?" asked Leanna. "That's hard to answer." said Miss South NY. "Because we all did so good." she continued. "I guess it depends on interview." said Natalie. "Hey you think Renee's skanky friends will make it?" asked Miss South Maine. "Unfortunately it's a possiblity." Leanna replied as Natalie nodded her head and curled her eyes. "I hope the top 10 are the ones well-deserving." said Miss South NY. "May the winner be well deserved of the title!" said Leanna as she held her glass in a toast causing other at the table to cheerfully join along.

A Grim Win !(Part 9)-Sierra Emerald -- Anonymous, 13:34:29 09/30/08 Tue

As contestants got ready fr the evening gown competition, the group Smooth Tune performed a number to an excited audience. Backstage was a manic sight of contestants hurrily getting dressed for the evening gown competition. "You are so gorgeous!" exclaimed Natalie to Leanna. "So are you!" Leanna excitedly answered. Leanna wore a thin strapped black and silver beaded gown with a split in front. During the competition, SmootheTune sang a ballad as each contestant graced the stage the stage to a roaring audience. Natalie and Leanna modelled excellentlt as their mother heavily cheered. Natalie wore a red satin gown which has a clight pedicoat from the waist down. Her hair was up in a bun with blond curls in the middle of her head and two shoulder length spiral curls on the side of her cheeks. While on stage, Renee felt more and more sleepy. Her turns were done in a dizzy state to judges and the audience as they all watched suspiciously. "What's going on with Renee?" asked miss South Maine. "My God I don't know!" replied Leanna. "Just say no to drugs!" ,she continued. As the contestants gathered on stage, the pop group continued singing as clear balloon fell on stage. "Here you have them! Miss North Eastern Beauty contestants for 2008!" Audience gave a thunderous applause. During the applause, Renee passed out. "Oh my God!" Miss South NY cried. Contestants spreaded out to a stunned asudience. Mrs Philmore and Myron ran to Renee's aid. "Everyone please remain seated and stay calm." replied Nick. Leanna has a look of amuzing shock on her face as Natalie silenty looked on. Renee's four contestant entourage - Miss South Rhode Island, North and South Penn, and North NJ gathered around her. When EMT's came to an onlooking audience and contestant. Both EMT's checked her body to find the problem. "Sleeping fluids are in her system." an EMT replied to Mrs Philmore while some of the contestants on stage overheard. "How much?", Mrs Philmore asked. "Not enough to cause damage. Just a little more than a full night's sleep.", an EMT said. "OH THANK GOD!" cried Mrs Philmore in complete relief. As Renee was taken to the hospital, her body was placed on the stectcher to head for the ambulance truck. Some of the contestants followed behind to the parking lot. Renee in her fuly beaded silver spaghetti strapped gown opened her eyes mildly only to see Natalie's smiling face and uttering the words "Payback's a bitch, bitch." Because of the heavily amount of sleep fluid in her system, Renee's eyes was forced shut as she continued to be rolled away. "Ok ladies!", replied Mrs Philmore. "Renee will be fine. Let's continue the pageant." "On with the show ladies!", cried Myron as the Reality TV show crew filmed everything. The audience was informed by Margaret of Renee's safety which resulted in applause. While backstage, contestants were getting ready for the last portion of the preliminary competition which of talent. Oh my God did you see her drop?" asked Miss South NY. "What did she have?" Miss North DC asked. "Probably PM diet pills!", replied Leanna as some contestants laughed. "She really didn't eat much all weekend." Replied Miss North Maine. "The dangers of eating disorders." said Miss North NY. Ten mimuted to talent girls!" replied a pageant staff member. "I'm glad nothing awful happened to her. But it does rid us from major competition." said Miss South NH to a smiling Miss North WV." Natalie was quiet during the whole time as she got ready for her talent. She was prepared to do a number to the musical broadway song "My Strongest Suit". Getting revenge on Renee made her even more excited to compete. Suddenly she noticed her hands changed to the color of cnow white with a decayed texture and 3 inch long spiked black fingernails that were faded. "Ready girl/" Leanna asked as Natalie quikly kept her hands out of sight. "Uh yeah." Natalie said with a nervous smile on her face. "What's the matter?" Leanna asked smilingly. "Nothing." smiled Natalie. "You seem nervous." Leanna said as she was doing baton twling moves. "I've been practicing this routine for months and I don't want to mess up!", said Leanna. As Leanna kept talking, Natalie notice her own hands were back to normal, but her teeth her three inched fanged which caused her to keep her mouth closed and keep her back turned to Leanna.

"Are you listening?:" Leanna asked. "What are you doing?" she continued while trying to get Natalie to face her. Natalie kept trying to turn away. "What's the matter?" asked. Natalie faced her unexpectedly and found her teeth to be normal again. "Is it nerves?" smiled Leanna. "Maybe." said Natalie as she nervously smiled. "Ok ladies, it's talent time!" replied one of the pageant staff members.

Till Death Do We Part -- Anonymous, 16:08:22 09/22/08 Mon

A newly married couple, Billy and Mable, had bought a house in Maine. They disregarded the stories told to them about the house by the realtor about the house being haunted by an insane serial killer and moved in. Mable frequently complained about the feeling that someone was touching her in the night, and Billy resolved to stay up the whole night and see who, if anybody, was doing it.

True to his word, Billy stayed up the whole night. Around midnight, he was gripped by the feeling of an overwhelming thirst. He went downstairs to the kitchen to get a glass of water. Before he could get a glass, he heard the most horrible screaming from Mable's room. Billy rushed upstairs and screamed himself. Mable's dead body lay bleeding on the bed. Billy rushed downstairs and called the police. Several nights later, Billy was finally sleeping peacefully, until around midnight. Again feeling very thirsty, Billy went downstairs and got a glass of water. He went upstairs and saw a lump in the bed. He ran over and ripped off the covers; The ghost of Mable floated up above him. She had an unholy light in her eyes, and the dark form of another man floated beside her. In her hand, Mable held the biggest knife Billy had ever seen.

"Didn't you promise Billy? Didn't you promise? 'Till death do we part! You promised!" Mable screamed, as she floated towards the frightened and paralyzed Billy.

McCain -- Anonymous, 19:03:03 09/21/08 Sun

. I supported John McCain in 2000. In my opinion, what George W. Bush did to him in the Carolinas was despicable, and made it impossible for me to ever vote for Bush. In my view, the presidential elections are entirely about the characters of the candidates. Times change so policies change, but I believe a person’s character, a person’s core, is immutable. The facts about John McCain’s youth, that he goofed off in school, coming in 5th from the bottom of the 899 cadets in his class, that he got into and through Annapolis through his Admiral father’s influence, that he was captured and imprisoned in Viet Nam, that in his old age he says he can’t remember how many houses he owns or how much money he has, I take all these with a grain of salt. The young often grow out of their foolishness and perform a brave act, and the old sometimes forget.
I just can’t bring myself to vote for someone I now know to be an adulterer.
This year I learned that John McCain met Carol Shepp, a swimsuit model from Philadelphia, in 1964. They married in ‘65 and had a daughter. While John was imprisoned in Nam, Carol was in an accident that ruptured her spleen, broke her arm and her hip, and crushed both her legs, leaving her six months in the hospital. Two more years and 23 operations left Carol four inches shorter than when she’d first met John. When John was released from Nam, he told friends she was “…not the woman I married.” His POW status allowed him to strike up a friendship with the Reagans. While Carol worked in Ronald Reagan’s 1976 presidential campaign, John had extramarital affairs. In 1979, a 42 year old John chased a 24 year old beer distributor heiress, Cindy Lou Hensley, around a buffet table set up to honor veterans, and had a relationship. Months later John shocked Carol and the Reagans with his divorce demand. I have yet to hear that the Reagans forgave him.
Now John has admitted his sin and I can forgive, as Jesus would have me do. But then, it’s not hard to forgive a man for breaking his solemn promise to someone else. And if he and Carol had agreed to a divorce, releasing each other from their vows, before he started having affairs, I could forget. But John couldn’t wait. And now he proposes to share the Oval Office with a former beauty pageant “Miss Congeniality”. What I can’t do is ever trust a man who breaks the most sacred oath a person ever takes, “…to love and to cherish…in sickness and in health…till death do us part.”
I suppose there are those who would see nothing wrong with doing what John did and would find some way to defend it, but I believe that to keep our sacred oaths against the pull of animal instinct is where true courage and true character are found.
How can he ever be trusted to keep any promise he makes about judges or the unborn or anything else, if he can’t keep the most sacred one?

A Grim Win (Part 8)-Sierra Emerald -- Anonymous, 17:18:58 09/08/08 Mon

With a horrfied look on her face, Natalie made her escape from the crowd to run backstage. When Leanna saw her, she quickly followed behind. "Natalie!", she called. "Natalie wait!" Natalie quickly sat down backstage and held her head down on her arms which rested on the make up table. "Natalie are you ok?", Leanna calmly asked. "I can't take this anymore!" Natalie snaped. "First rehersals and now this!" With a concerned look on her face, Leanna replied "Things happen big deal! Like me getting asked difficult questions I wasn't prepared for during interview." Bad things happen at times. But as you know, it's how we react to them. So you can't run away while you are so close to possibly winning." As other contestants that modeled in the fashion show were getting ready for preliminaries, Miss South NY replied "At least the fashion isn't judged." Renee came into the dressingrom and was still amused by the wardrobe malfunction. She laughed while drinking her smoothie. "Is something funny?" Leanna asked in a sassy manner causing Renee to roll her eyes with a smirk on her face. Natalie took a glance in the mirror and saw the image of the montrous, morbid woman which quickly disappeared. Natalie then sat puzzuled. "What is this image all about and who is this woman?" Suddenly her cell phone rang. "Are you alright?" asked her mother gently. "Yeah i'm fine mom." Natalie replied. "It's just that you ran off so fast I just wanted to check up." replied her mother. "I just wanted to get away from the audience." said Natalie. "Just remember that this will not spoil your chances. This was a non judged event and accidents happen." reminded her mother. "I know." Natalie politely replied. "Ready for prelims?" aasked Leanna. "Of course!" smiled Natalie. After the fashion show ended, all of the contestants wore a pair of black shorts or capris with the pageant T-shirt and a pair of high heels. Contestants gathered on stage for photos and TV filiming for the Reality TV show. Afterwards they gathered on the stairs in the hotel lobby for additional photos. "Are you doing ok?" asked Mrs Philmore to Natalie. "I'm doing great!" she answered. "My head if focused on the preliminaries now!" she smiled. "Glad to hear that darlin." smiled Mrs Philmore before walking off to answer a phone call. "Now ladies. Tonight make the best of it. It's time to bring it But leave the daggars and knives at home!" said Myron as some of the contestants laughed. Afterwards the contestants were released to mingle and finish getting ready for showtime. Preliminaried started at 8:00 which gave the girls about an hour to go. The ballroom was refilled with family, friends, and pageant fans. Some of the audience dressed semi formal as other decided to go casual. Some of the contestants made sure they had everything they needed for the pageant preliminary. "Make sure you ladies ahve everything you need tonight because noone is allowed to leave the ballroom until after preims are over." Mrs Philmore reminded. "Put it all behind you." This is it now." cried Natalie's mother. "Mom the wardrobe malfuntion is over. My mind is on the title." Natalie replied. "Good!" smiled her mother. "Let's go kick Renee's ass on that stage!" Leanna happily said as Natalie laughed. The both of them headed backstage to finich getting ready for pageant line-up. Contestants lined up backstage for introductions. "Remember intros are not judged, but give it your best!" Myron reminded. Each contestant was filled with excitement and ready to grace the stage. At 8:00pm the lights dimmed down in the ballroom which caused the audience to roar in excitement. "How's everyone doing tonight?" asked the 2007 winner Margaret Sarchow while standing alongside Reality TVhost Nick Walker. "Tonight we have 45 of the most beautiful women from the Northeast US region!" said Nick excitedly as the audience cheered. "Contestants will compete in swimwear, evening gown and talent. Tomorrow afternoon, the top 10 will be announced as they will recompete in the three categories and the top 5 will answer the final question." smiled Margaret. "So let's get this show started!" cheered Nick as audienced roared. Audience cheered excitedly again as music played and each contestant themselves. After intros, contestants did the dance number they rehersed for earlier to the audience and judges. "Here they are! Your contestants for the 2008 Miss Northeastern Beauty Pageant!" cried Nick. Contestants hurried to get ready for swimwear. As they got ready, boy band "Smooth Tune" performed to a raving crowd. Reality TV filmed everything including backstage rush. Soon it was time for the swimsuit competition. Each contestant wore a two piece bikini of their choice. Contestants did a fabulous job. Natalie wore a red bikini and taupe heels. "Go Natalie!!!!" cheered her mother and Leanna's mother. Leanna struted the stage in her deep green bikini and did a fabulous job as both her and Natalie's mom cheered. "GO GIRL!!!!" They both excitedly shouted. Renee headed for the stage in a white bikini with rhinestone trim at the chest. Suddenly she felt a bit dizzy. The tilting was barely noticed by other as Leanna smirked. "Five inch heels and buffed floors don't mix" she said as Natalie smiled.

>As contestants look surprised at
>the incidentm >rehersals. At 2pm they were all preparing for the
>fashion show and interviews with judges. Interviews
>were unique for the year because contestants got to
>wear their casual outfit they had worn to breatfast.
>"Glad we don't need our business suits this year!"
>Leanna happily said as Natalie agreed. In the ballroom
>in front of the ballroom where the pageant would take
>place was the interview room of 6 judges. Contestants
>were to go to each of them one at a time for a period
>of 2 mins. Most questions were asked from the
>contestants' applications while others were more of a
>challenge. There was no sort of order on which
>contestant goes in first. "Let me get mine over with."
>smiled Miss Northern Maine. Five contestants were
>called in at a time. "Leanna went in during the second
>set of five girls." Judges were dressed in business
>attire and seemed happy to see them. Sitting before
>judge #1, Leanna was relieved by a simple question.
>"Why are mysterious books your favorite?" Judge #1
>asked. With a joyful look on her face she answered. "I

>love to be kept guessing!" Things were different with
>judge # 4 who asked her something more challenging.
>"What was the biggest mistake you've made in life?"
>Looking a little confused, Leanna answered the best

>Miss Northern Rhode Island. I won many titles and had

>she doesn't win!" snapped Leanna "Look at her! She
>acts as if she's doing them a favor!" she said as
>Natalie frowned while looking at Renee. "At least her

>Leanna curled her eyes. Renee wore a white haltar knee

>baby! It's just a wardrobe malfunction! It's Ok!", she
>cried as contestants that went on stage before her

"Let me go!" she scolded. "You're not up yet!" said a pageant staff member "North Vermont is fine! Another pair of boobs exposed! Happens all the time in the pageant world!" As Natalie was encircled by Mrs Philmore, Margaret, her mother, and some contestants, Renee walked up and said the words in Natalie's ear "Payback's a bitch, bitch!" while smirking. Anger and shock was shown in Natalie's eyes as she looked at Renee only to see Renee's teeth were 3 inch fanged and her eyes revealved only the sockets.

Tall women. Tall women can indulge in wide belts, avoid tight clothes and skirts that are to short or to long. Beauty expert Stephanie Faber recommends tall women play down their waist by wearing their blouses over the pants and skirts and avoid tight belts. Hip heavy triangle woman. A hip heavy triangle and round full figured women can use clothes with vertical lines to make an up and down illusion. V-necks and skirts with slits up the sides are also good. Clothes with small padded shoulders should be chosen . Too big of pads will make you look like a foot ball player. Wear long tops that go passed your hips. Choose jackets, tailored suits and shirtwaist dresses with straight, classic cuts. Lighter colors on top can be worn, this brings eyes up. Wear dark stockings and avoid patterns. Select vertical, fluid patterns and avoid bulky fabrics. Adopt the just below the knee look in dresses and skirts. Choose accessories close to the same color clothes you are wearing including shoes. This gives your body an unbroken slimmer look. Avoid very wide pinafore skirts. Stay with straight or Aline skirts. Top heavy woman. The top heavy body types need to choose long jackets without shoulder pads. Do not wear blouses with fancy details and ruffles. Do not wear clingy fabrics on top, choose darker colors on top. Do not wear tops that are to light. Tops with dolman or raglan sleeves and ones that fit loose and slims down to hug the hips and waist are good. Wear pants or skirts that are pleated to bring the eye down. Choose thin materials like cotton, or cotton jersey. One color dressing will also be thinning. Flat shoes are best unless you are short, then wear heels. If your legs are in good shape shorter hem lengths will draw attention away from your top. Rectangular type woman. The rectangular type can accentuate curves by wearing jackets or tops that hug the waist, feminine thick sweaters over skirts or pants. Use patterns in your tops or bottoms to add dimension. Round out the neckline with necklaces, scarves and other accessories, and use shoulder pads. visit: http://nikhar-e-arab.com/fashionforyou.html

Get rid of bed breath.(ODA6808) -- Anonymous, 03:46:06 08/13/08 Wed

Starting at the back of your mouth, gently drag the scraper along your tongue two or three times, rinsing it in between each pass. visit: http://nikhar-e-arab.com/badbreath.html

Suddenly the phone rang adn was answered by the third ring. "Natalie it's for you." said Miss North NJ. After getting the phone, the commanding words caused her to become more awake. "Get up here and get ready for breakfast!" scolded Natalie's mother. "I'm on my way now." she answered in an annoyed manner. After getting off the phone, Natalie headed to her room with Leanna, "Lock your door Jersey.", Leanna replied as Miss North NJ continued getting ready in the bathroom. When Natalie went back to her room, she headed to the shower. "There you are partygirl." her mother replied. "Next time you go out, you better let me know where you are. If it wasn't for Leanna, I would have used the hotel intercom." "Mom you know if I wasn't at the hotel, I would have called." sahe said while running the shower water. Meanwhile Leanna sat in on the chair watching TV as Natalie's mom called home. After showering, Natalie wore her casual outfit for breakfast, applied her makeup and hairrollers. "You're wearing your rollers to breakfast?", her mom asked. "Yea mom this is just breakfast and rehersals. I won't be the only one either." she said. "Everybody eready?" asked Leanna's mother as she tapped on the door and walked inside the suite. "Were about to head down now." smiled Natalie's mother. As they all headed downstairs to the ballroom, the smell of the breakfast buffet was very pleasant. The four of them went into the ballroom and joined the other contestants and their families. Breakfast was a delicious variety. Pancakes, waffles, french toast, eggs, bacon, sausage, hashbrowns, biscuits, grits, fruits, juices, coffee, etc. Leanna loaded her plate with tempting edibles. "Leanna my God girl! You are ruining your diet!", cried her mother. "I'm only sampling!" Leanna happily replied as her mother curled her eyes. Natalie only had fruit, a muffin, and eggs. "if I eat any of this forbidden food, I'll eat the whole buffet!", cried Natalie. During breakfast, the reality show crew filmed everyone in the balroom. "Now remember ladies." reminded Mrs Philmore. Rehersals are at 11am. The fashionshow will be held at 4 and preliminaries will start at 9:00 tonight." Everyone continued to mingle as the film crew continued filming. At 10:00 pm, the ballroom became more and more empty in order to finsh getting ready for rehersals or to shop around the nearby stores. At 11:00, contestants were instructed to go in the ballroom where the pageant is being held. "Ok ladies!" replied Myron the pageant choreographer. You will each line up by your contestant number and go to the center X, say your name and your state region. After the last contestant introduces herself, you will all do a little dance routine that I will show you later on." Contestants were called up 5 at a time for intros, instructed on the dance number, and swimwear and evening gown practice. "Good evening ladies and gentlemen! I'm Renne Taggart Miss North Rhode Island!", she cheerfully replied as Leanna mocked her voice. "I can't stand her.", she said as Natalie laughed. "Alright the next five ladies please come up." Myron directed as the Reality TV crew filmed. "Hello ladies and gentlemen, I am Miss South Vermont Leanna Stewart." said Leanna before walking off stage. When it was time for Natalie to step foward, the image of everyone in the ballroom changed to the face of the momstrous woman who keeps haunting Natalie. The face the color of ghostly white, eyeless sockets, and three inched fanged teeth was worn by all in the ballroom. In addition to this terrifying look, out of their mouths appeared black, muddy dripping worms. Natalie had the face of intense fear. "Miss Vermont." called Myron as Leanna ran to her aid. "Natalie are you OK?" she asked in an alertive tone as the other contestants loooked worrisome while Renee and her crew smiled and laughed. Natalie saw their faces normal again. "I'm ok." she stated calmly. Are you sure?" asked Myron. "Yeah I'm fine." she calmly answered while being guided off stage by Leanna. They both went back to their seats while being greeted with a nasty remark from Renee. "Are we having a Carrie moment? why did you even waste your money trying to compete?", she taunted. A streak of violent anger entered Natalie casuing her to slug Renee in the nose. "Yeah!", cried Miss South Maine as Leanna smiled. This incident caused a rush of commotion by the contestants. Because Natalie and Leanna stood in front of Renee and the ballroom was a bit dim, Myron nor the TV crew could not see what happened. "Ladies! Ladies!", called Myron as Mrs Philmore walked in. "What's going on here?" he asked as he stood on the side of the chair aisle of Renee. Everyone was quiet. "So nothing happened?" asked Myron. "She just fell on Miss North Rhode Island by mistake." said Leanna as Renee sat quiet. Looking partially convinced, Myron continued with rehersals. After he walked back to the stage, Renee's nose started to bleed causing her clique to give her some paper towels to help nurse her nose. "You're in for it bitch!", snapped Renee in a loud whisper as she sarply looked Natalie in the eyes. "Payback's a bitch, bitch!" snapped Natalie as Renee headed out the ballroom to the restroom as her girls followed behind. "What happened up there on stage?", Leanna asked. "I guess the caffine had me feel a little faint." replied Natalie while refusing to admit what she saw.

A Girm Win (Part 5)- Sierra Emerald -- Anonymous, 17:56:17 07/15/08 Tue

"What's with all these scary images?!!!" cried Natalie with a fearfully puzzuled look on her face. Her thoughts were quickly disrupted when Mrs Philmore came inside the restroom. "Glad I rented this club as a private party. Could you imagine the restroom line if I didn't?", she replied. "What happened to you sash darlin?", she continued. "Oh, I just spilled some soda on it by accident." said Natalie. "Well let's hope that stain comes out because there are no extras." warned Mrs Philmore. Natalie asked "Will I have to wear it if it doesn't?" Mrs Philmore answered "If it's too bad no. But let's hope it's wearable. it won't look right seeing all the other contestants wearing their sashes except you." Mrs Philmore informed. When she walked into the bathroom stall, Natalie left the restroom after taking her sash out of the water and sending the stopped water down the drain. She also took papertowels to dry the sash. "How's it looking?" Leanna asked. "The soda spots are very faded. It's barely noticable." said Natalie in a relieved tone. "That's good!", said Leanna. We should get some sode and revenge splash those tramps." Leanna snapped as Natalie laughed. An hour later, the contestants boarded the bus to head back to the hotel. "Ok girls!", croied Mrs Philmore. After we get back to the hotel, get plenty of rest. Be in the ballroom where we met for orientation at 8am. We will have breakfast and rehersals will start at 10am. Fashion show wil start at 2:00." "Do we have to be there for breakfast?" asked Miss South West Virginia. "Yes you do." answered Mrs Philmore as a few groans filled the air. "Let me remind you all." Replied Mrs Philmore. This is not a personal vacation. This is a pageant competition. Even though there are fun activities, it's still a job audition. So there is no strolling in at anytime you want." The ride back to the hotel was not as loud since the activities tired them out a bit. "Hey Natalie." called Leanna a bit softly. "Me and some of the girls are going into Miss Northern New Jersey's room to hang out and watch a movie. Wanna come?" "Yeah sounds fun." said Natalie in a polite manner. After getting to the hotel, contestants proceeded off the bus and scattered. It was midnight so some of the girls went back to their rooms as others headed to the bar. "Come on Natalie!" Leanna cried. "I don't know girl." replied Natalie. I't already after midnight and we have to be in the ballroom for breakfast at 8." "It will just be for a little while." said Leanna cheerfully. "Come on!" After going into Miss North New Jersey's room, she and Leanna were met by five other contestants inside: Miss South NY, Miss North WV, Miss South DC, Miss South Maine, and Miss South WV. "Let's watch a horror flick!" Miss South SC cried. "Shutter is a good one!" replied Miss South Maine. "Let's watch that one." Miss North NJ ordered the PPV as the rest gathered in girlish gossip. "God PLEASE don't let Renne win!" cried Miss North WV. "I know!" Leanna agreed "Crown chasing skank!" "Nobody brought food?" asked Miss South Maine. "I have a huge bag of Sweet Chilli Doritos but that's about it." said Miss NJ. "Bring em here!" cried Leanna smilingly. "I would have socked the crap out of her if that ho splashed with me with her drink." said Miss South DC. "Did the stain come out?" asked Miss North WV. "Almost" smiled Natalie. The girls contined talking. "We not even watching the movie!" cried Miss South Main laughingly. "we keep on talking and talking." the rest of the girl laughed as suddenly there was a knock on the door. They all got quiet. "Who is that?" Leanna asked. Miss North NJ went to check along eith Miss South Main and Miss South WV. "Who is it?" Miss NJ asked as she looked through the peephole on the door. "He's cute." she whispered in amazement while opening the door. "If Miss New York here?" the guy asked "North or South" Miss NJ asked a little flirtaciously. "South" she replied. "Sure she's here." "New York some guy is here to see you." Miss Main happily replied. Looking a little puzzled, Miss South NY went to see who the guy was. "Hey baby." he smilingly replied. "Hey!", she cried while walking up to hug and passionately kiss him. "Guess we know who he is." smiled Leanna. "How did you know I was here?" Miss South NY asked? I got here at about 9 tonight and your sister told me where you were. "You know no men are allowed" smiled Miss South WV. "Well I won't tell if you won't." smiled Miss South NY. "I want to show you something." said Miss South NY's boyfriend as he lightly puled her hand. "Ok but make it quick." she smilingly replied as she walked down the hall alongside him. " Wish I had a man to show me something." Miss NJ replied as the rest of the girls laughed. Conversations continued during the movie until they final fell asleep 30 mins after it ended. Natalie had the same nightmare she had the day before coming to the pageant. This time, she walked in the ancient cemetary as the three ghosts surrounded her rapidly encircling. Wind blew as lightening flashed as the mysteriously ghoulish looking woman appeared before. As Natalie saw the woman, she was risen in the sir and thrown into an empty plot. This caused her to let out a scream as the ghoulish woman made dirt fall into the plot as the three ghosts looked on.
Natalie tried to escape but was supernaturally held down as the gravedirt continued pouring inside the empty tomb. She screamed "OHHHHHHH GODDDD!!!!!" But was suddenly awaked by Leanna. "Natalie!" cried Leanna. "it's 6:00 in the morning. Time to get ready." She was relieved to find out it as only nightmarish make believe.

A Grim Win Part 4 -Sierra Emerald -- Anonymous, 16:28:05 07/02/08 Wed

"Miss North Vermont?", called Scott. "Are you ok?" he asked her as she realized everything seemed normal again. Natalie smiled and slightly nodded her head. The photo shoot continued normally as some of the contestants' families stood in watch. After the photo shoot, they all headed back to their hotle rooms to get changed. They were all reminded by Mrs Philmore to be ready in 2 hours for the night out. "I wonder will the whole shoot air on TV?" asked Leanna. "Probably." replied Natalie as they both headed to the elevator. "I'll catch up with you." said Natalie's mom as she and Leanna's mother spoke in the lobby. As Natalie and Leanna continued walking to the elevator, they saw two of Renee's friends inside who quickly closed the elevators doors. "We wanted to tke the next one anyway ho'bags!", said Leanna loudly as she and Natalie both laughed. "My feelings are so hurt!" laughed Natalie. As another elevator opened, other contestants approached the elevator forcing Natalie and Leanna to cram inside. After getting off on her floor, Natalie was met by renee in the hall. "That was real amusing pretending to accidentally push me in the pool." Natalie smiled and replied "Yeah it was." With a scornful look in her eyes, Renee replied "Be careful cause I'm not the one to mess with." This caused Natalie to roll her eyes and walk off while smirking. After reaching her room, she got changed for the night outing. Leanna came to her room and was told about the showdown. "Oh my God! I wiash I was there to see that!", cried Leanna. "She should be happy that was all that was done to her!", smailed Natalie. Both of their mothers also entered the room. "You girls ready for the night?", Leanna's mom asked. "Yes." Natalie and Leanna smilingly replied "There's no compeitition tonight, just fun. smiled Natalie's mother. At 7pm, the contestants gathered to the charter bus to head out to TGI Friday's while wearing their sashes. During the ride, chatter and excitement filled the atmosphere. Getting to the restaurant, Mrs Philmore instructed the girls to get in a line before heading inside. The host escoretd each of the girls to the reserved seating. "These foods are so tempting!", said Leanna "Oh my God! Fajitas, rib tips, steak, burgers, we can't sabotage ourselves!" said Natalie. "I'm caught in the food trap!" laughed Leanna. "The Southewest burger and oinion rings sounds so delicious! Some of the contestants gave in to the tempting foods as others stuck to ther strict diets. "Look at them!" snapped Leanna a little while looking in Renee's direction seeing her and her four other friends eating small salads. "Crown Chasers with eating disorders." replied Natalie as she ordered fromt he low carb section of the menu. "I'll go crazy if I deprived myself that hard!"cried Leanna. The contestants enjoyed themselves at dinner and headed to Club Paradise afterwards. Getting there, they all realized they were the only attendees. "Excuse me Mrs Philmore," said one of the contestants. "Where are all the people?" "I rented it out as a private function so there will be no distractions." said Mrs Philmore. After they all went inside, the hostess of Reality TV Network interviewed some of the contestants. "Nervous abot the pageant?" Natalie was asked by the hostess through the loud music. "Oh God no!", she said. "Pageants are my life!" she smiled. Contestants continued dancing while others mingled. "Dance with me!" replied Leanna to Natalie happily. They both went to the floor and joined the rest of the contestants that danced. The dark lounge within the colored strobe lights and thumping music ignited the fun. But Natalie's fun was quickly interrupted by a spalsh of soda on her shirt and sash. "Did I drench you?" smiled Renee. "I'm sorry." she replied sarcastically as her protege's smiled on. "I didn't mean to splash you either." snapped Leanna while knocking the drink out of one of Renee's friends hands causing the soda to spill on her. As she tried to head towards Leanna, another contestant blocked her way. "Mrs Philmore will disqualify you." Miss North New York reminded. "You're gonna regret that!" warned Natalie to Renee harshly. "ooh I'm shaking." taunted Renee. Natalie quickly leaped at her only to be held back by Leanna as this got some of the contestants from the dance floor attention. "She's got worth it girl!" said Leanna cautiously. "Be careful who you mess with!" Natalie snapped to Renee. Renee and her crew walked off wearing grins on their faces. Natalie and Leanna went to sit down. "Look at my sash!" cried Natalie. Maybe Mrs Philmore has another one." said Leanna. "I'm gonna try and get this off." said Natalie before going to the restroom. "Club soda always helps!" cried Leanna while giving her a bottle from her table. While inside the restroom, Natalie made soapy water in the sink and placed her sash inside it to soak. As she looked in the mirror, she noticed the soda stain on her shirt and got some paper towels to blot it out. Looking in the mirror, she saw the three ghosts and the grotesque looking female that appeared during the swimsuit shoot. Natalie gasped in a fearfully shocked manner but the images quickly vanished.

A Grim Win Part 3-Sierra Emerald -- Anonymous, 17:15:44 06/17/08 Tue

As everyone in the room socialized, the pageant director did a mic check at the podium. Five minutes later, the director started to speak. "Good afternoon everyone!" replied the director Mrs Philmon excitedly. "I'm happy to see all of the contestants have made it. We have an excitinf competition this year! It's Friday so tonight we will go to TGI Fridays and to Club Paradise! Sorry ladies no alcohol will be served. But in about two hours as you know, there will a bikini photoshoot! Be sure to wear your sashes to the shoot and when we're out tonight! Reality TV Channel will be here during the photoshoot and the rest of the pageant! There will be contestant's packets given after orientation. They will have your sashes, crowns, T-Shirts, and eyeshadow kit, lipstick, and blush from "LaGlitz". Now I am going to hand over the stage to last year's winner Margaret Sarchow!" Everyone applauded as Margaret took the stage to give competition advice. As she spoke, Natalie was even more thrilled to compete. As she continued listening, three ghostly figures appeared on the stage. She was stunned to see the same images from her dream. She continue to stare while noticing that noone else could see them. The three of them glided in flight towards her as Natalie watched in confusement. "You ok?" her mother gently asked while putting her arm around her." "Uh yeah, it's just that..nevermind." while looking that the direction the ghosts were only to notice there were gone. She looked even more puzzled. But her distractions were broken by Margaret. "Just remember to have a good time and that you are all winners!" said Margaret happily causing the contestants and their attending families to applaud. "Ok everyone!" exclaimed Mrs Philmore "Get ready for the photoshoot at 5:00!" This gives us a little more than an hour." replied Natalie's mother in a slightly frantic manner. "Come on you have to get ready!" Leanna gathered her packet and spoke to Natalie. "See you at the phot session." she politely said. "See you later." smiled Natalie. She and her mother reached their hotel room to get ready. "Ready for the spraytan?" asked her mother. "I'l ready for the crown!", cried Natalie. After getting ready, they both headed to the pool. She took the classy approach wearing her houserobe and flip-flops to the lobby. Some of the other contestants decided to do the opposite which had male guests mezmerized. "Hey girl!" said Leanna at Natalie happily walked towards her. The Reality Network TV and photo crew set up to get started. "Ok ladies!" said the photograher Scott. Let's get 5 contestants at a timeto pose at the side of the pool." The first 5 girls volunteered first. They posed by the pool in a model style manner as the photograher gave them a few more directions. Ten minutes later, the next 5 were asked to come up. Renee shoved contestants in front of her to be one of the five. She and her four clique buddies posed for the shots. "Who the hell does she thinks she is?" snapped Natalie. "God I hope she doesn't win." replied Leanna in a sassy tone as the other contestants standing around agreed. Ten minutes later, the next 5 were called up. As Natalie walked up, she purposely bumped into Renee causing her to fall into the pool. "oops!", cried Natalie as Leanna and some of the other contestants laughed. "My hair!!! My Make up!!!!" snapped Renee. "Miss North Rhode Island I'm SO sorry!" cried Scott as Mrs Philmore ran to her aid. "Are you ok darlin?" "I'm fine. said Renee annoyningly while grabbing a towel to dry off as she sharply looked at Natalie. Leanna and the other contestants were amused as they saw Renee's friend crowd around her in comfort. "There is a God!", cried Leanna happily. "I'm shocked she didn't melt!" said Miss North New Jersey as they all laughed. "Ok ladies don't get too close to the pool and take your time." said Scott. As the five of them posed, Natalie felt the glamorous thrill that comes with competing. While she continued posing, she photographer seemed to have turned into a long black haired woman, with eyeless sockets, skin the color of snow and a teeth full of two inch fangs. This caused Natalie to wear the face of someone in a slightly traumatic state.

Eat out On diet.(WS3535) -- Anonymous, 21:21:49 06/07/08 Sat

One of the most common problems people have with losing weight is pitfalls like eating out. Here are a few ways you can control how much you eat:As soon as your food is served, ask for a box and put half of your meal into it, to take home. Restaurant portions are usually twice the size they should be anyway. Don't ruin a nice, low fat salad with creamy dressing. Go for the vinaigrette or oil and vinegar, and use them sparingly.
Don't let yourself down by getting (or sharing) a dessert. Order some fruit or Jell-O instead, if you must have something sweet. Arrive with a healthy meal in mind and ask for it without opening your menu. This will spare you the pain of looking at an array of temptation. After each bite, put your fork down, and don't pick it up again until you've completely swallowed the last bite. visit: http://nikhar-e-arab.com/eatoutondiet.html

This caused her to become a little puzzled. “Those are the same trees from my dream.” Natalie said to herself. “Huh?”, asked her mother politely. “Nothing. Natalie replied. The
Drive continued for two hours, so her mom decided to stop for breakfast. “Denny’s or I-HOP?”, her mother asked. “You know I am on my diet.” Said Natalie in a disappointed
Manner. “Live a little girl. It’s not like you’re going to gain the weight back in a day!”, her mother replied. “Ok then I pick the I-HOP. It’s only 9:30?, said Natalie. “Yeah it is.”, cried her mother. “So that leaves us with two hours to go.” After stopping for breakfast, they both headed back to the car to continue the additional 2 hour drive. Reaching the exit of the hotel relieved Natalie. “Finally!”, she cried. “We’re here!” Enjoying the view,
her mother exclaimed “The Grand Hyatt is marvelous!” As they both gathered their things, they proceeded to the lobby desk to check in. Looking around, Natalie noticed a few other girls from ages 20-29 mingled around. “Here’s your key card and enjoy your stay!”, replied the front desk clerk in a friendly tone. “Are in the pageant?”, asked another contestant after approaching Natalie. “Yeah,….how did you know?” Natalie wondered. “You makeup case and evening gown bag gives it away.” Replied the contestant politely.
“I’m Leanna.” she said. “Natalie.” Natalie happily replied. “So what room are you staying in?”, Leanna asked. “Number 2225.” Natalie replied. “I’m two floors under in 2019.” Leanna responded. “So I’ll see you at orientation!”, she cried. “Ill see you there!”
said Natalie. She and her mother proceeded to go on the elevator. Finally reaching their room and going inside, they were both intrigued by its appearance. “This is incredible!”, Natalie’s mom exclaimed. “It even has a Jacuzzi!” Natalie jumped in the waterless tub with her clothes on. “I can stay here forever.”, she said. “Now remember.” reminded her mother. Orientation is at 3:00 so you have about 2 hours.” “Mom can I just enjoy the moment?” Natalie asked after getting out of the hot tub. “After the competition.” Her mother replied. “Now put on your make up, freshen up your hair, and let’s work on your introduction and walks.” “Natalie?” “Natalie?” called her mother while finding her asleep in the bed. “Ok you can have your nap time.” Her mother said gently. At 2:30 pm, she woke Natalie up to get ready for the orientation. After getting ready, they both headed to the ballroom where the other 44 contestants were. “Natalie!”, called Leanne as she waved her arm around. Natalie and her mother walked over to the table to be joined by Leanne and her mother. “Hi I’m Leanna’s mom!”, she cried as she shook Natalie’s mother’s hand. “Natalie’s mom!” Natalie’s mother happily replied. Leanna dragged me here ! This is like your 10th one right Leanna?”, asked her mother. “12th.” said Leanna as she smiled.
Natalie has been in pageants since she was 5!” replied her mother excitedly. “You mean the hair, makeup, big glittery dresses?” asked Leanna’s mom. “Oh yeah but it wasn’t as overly made up like it is now.” Natalie’s mother replied. “If Leanna was 5 now, no way would I allow her to compete in those types of pageants. It’s over bearing for me!” said her mother smilingly. As they were both conversating, another contestant accidentally tripped over Leanna’s foot. “Excuse me! I’m so sorry!”, replied Leanna sympathetically.
“Is she alright?”, asked Leanna’s mom while both Natalie and her mom looked concerned. “Yeah excuse you!”, snapped the contestant after getting up and walking away. “What’s her problem?” asked Natalie in a slightly annoyed manner. “Oh that’s Renee Taggart.” said Leanna in a small feisty tone. “She has won 3 major pageants in the pageant three years. Miss American USA, Miss Suntan America, and Miss US Beauty! Now she thinks her crap doesn’t stink. Leanna continued. “These things sure do bring out the worse in some!” replied Leanna’s mother amusingly as they all smilingly agreed.

A Grim Win (Part 1)-Sierra Emerald -- Anonymous, 14:55:31 05/28/08 Wed

In the middle of the cloud mist day, centered in a graveyard centuries old, and surrounded by leafless, lifeless trees; appeared three ancient apparitions swarming the area. Their appearance were 7ft tall, long hair, and a see through bodily white image as they adorned white gowns the color of their body. Their teeth were spiked and the sockets of their eyes were empty. The three of the em flew rapidly within the neglected cemetary. They laughed hysterically within the cloudy air. The wind raged and the lightening begab causing the ghostly trio to fly around in enraged happiness. Waking up from her nightmare slumber, Natalie Lane was reminded of her big day. "It's pageant time" her mother happily replied as she tapped on Natalie's bedroom door. Sitting up in her bed in a sleepish state, she thought about her dream. "So are you all packed up? Your consultant Monica called and we both hope you are prepared for the interview with the judges. You're definitely prepared for swimwear, evening gown and talent, Natalie are you listening to me?" her mother asked. "Uh it's 6:00 in the morning.", Natalie replied tiredly. "Yes it is 6:00 so lets get going! Miss North Eastern Beauty awaits!", her mother cried in a perky tone. As she began getting ready for the pageant, she started thinking about her dream again. "Graveyards, ghosts, I wonder what it all means?" Interruped by a knock on the bathroom door, her mother asked "I thought you rolled your hair?" "Mom, today is orientatuion and meetup. It's Friday! Who cares?", said Natalie in a slightly annoying manner. "First impressions do count.", her mother replied. "Did you at least take your roller setter with you?", asked her mother. "Of course mom.", Natalie politely replied. "It's the heart of the beauty queen look! That and hairspray!" Her mother continued getting ready for the roadtrip and packed all of the things she decided to take along. "Make sure your get all teh things you need for the pageant. It's a 4 hour drive so it's very important to pack the essentials.", her maother said. "I have everything mom. Makeup, evening gown, bikini, shoes, casual clothes, razor, shaving gel, jewerly, pantyhose, talent dress, and the rest. You know, the essentials!", Natalie replied. "Good because I don't want all the preparation and money to go to waste!", said her mother. Natalie while you're gone, can I use your computer?", asked her little 13 year old sister Marissa. "Stay outta my room!", scoled Natalie. "Is your dad still sleeping?" their mother asked. "Yeah." Marissa replied. "He probably won't get what I'm saying then. So if he waked up, just let him know that Natalie and me are at the pageant. I'll call you when we get there." Her mother informed while hugging her afterwards. "Do you need any help Natalie?" Asked Marissa while watching her big sister lug around two big suitcases. "I got it.", Natalie said as she headed for the car. "Ok this is going to be a long ride!", cried her mother. "You hungry?" "Not really." Natalie answered. "I have to watch my appetite anyway." "Well you can a bagel, a little of eggs, or something." her mother said. "No that's ok." Natalie replied. As they headed out of the driveway to reach the highway. Natalie continued to think about her dream. Reaching the highway, she saw dead trees at one of the exits. These trees bore the same resemblance as the ones she dreamt of.

Immigrant serving organisations in Canada (OD2345) -- Anonymous, 15:47:16 05/10/08 Sat

There are hundreds of immigrant-serving organizations in Canada. Many are staffed by former newcomers to Canada, who understand the challenges that immigrants may face. They usually have people available who speak your language and can accompany you as interpreters. Citizenship and Immigration Canada supports many of these organizations financially, helping newcomers adapt to life in Canada.

Settling in will be much easier if you contact an immigrant-serving organization as soon as
you arrive. The people who work for these organizations can help you find a place to live and can answer your questions about shopping, education for your children, transportation, language training and other important matters.for more information: http://settlementincanada.50webs.com/immigrantservc3.htm

How to become healthy (D378) -- Anonymous, 15:29:07 04/14/08 Mon

Everyone is familiar with all-out energy drain -- that exhausted day (or night) when no matter how enticing that new movie, fabulous shoe sale, or friendly barbeque, we just can't psych ourselves up to go.

What can be harder to recognize is a low-grade energy drain. In this case, you may not necessarily feel the classic signs of exhaustion -- like achy muscles or that all-over tired feeling. What you do experience is an increasing lack of get-up-and-go for many of the activities you used to love.

"You may also find it harder to concentrate on tasks, and, eventually, you can also find your patience grows short and your level of frustration rises, even when confronted with seemingly simple challenges," says New York University nutritionist Samantha Heller, MS, RD.

If this is starting to sound familiar, take heart. Energy zappers are all around us, some obvious, some hidden. The good news: There is a way around almost all of them.

To this end, we asked health experts to help compile this list of the top 10 energy boosters. Try one, two, or all 10, and you're bound to see your energy levels soar. visit: http://www.nikharearab.com/healthtips.htm

They're Coming! -- Anonymous, 17:16:44 03/25/08 Tue

BANG.

Colour rushes round my tightly closed eyes and I pull my knees up right to my chin underneath the blankets. Damn, that sounded close.

BANG.

Dad said that any banging I might hear at night would just be the heating and there was nothing to worry about, but I’m not taking any chances. I know the footsteps of monsters when I hear them.

BANG.

They’re getting nearer. Why can’t they just let me sleep? Why must they torment me every night? I want it to be morning; it’s always better in the morning, when it’s light and people are getting up. Not that I dare look when I wake up. I’d rather Mum or Dad come in and check it’s all ok. I’m sure some creature could be there, waiting patiently all night, waiting for the slightest hint of bravery - or foolishness – from me and then …wham! I’m not sure what would happen, but I don’t want to think about it.

BANG.

I jump and my heart beats faster. They’re getting closer! My ears strain to hear them breathe, perhaps to hear them mutter their evil plans. Would I understand them anyway? Do monsters speak English? I don’t want to know. Please just stop; stop the noise and be silent. Let me have my peace so I can go to –

BANG.

They must be right beside me! That’s not the heating, Dad, that’s a real, proper monster and it’s right here! I can’t breathe, let alone shout for help. Just be still. Do nothing, say nothing and pray. Maybe they won’t see me – they didn’t last night, did they? Or before? Just waiting. Biding their time. Waiting for their moment.

BANG. BANG. Bang.

Where are they going? They always do this – start off slowly and then speed up. I can hear more but now they’re fainter, going off. Yes, they’re going away, perhaps to the corner, perhaps to my cupboard. Did I shut it? I think so, but not going to check; no way.

After a while, a distant humming noise stops. Silence.

Maybe I was being silly. Mum said monsters didn’t exist, not in the real world; only in books and stories they read to me. I listened again. It had now been ages since I’d heard anything, and as I’d survived I thought it was time for the tiniest of peeks. Pushing my stomach as hard as I could against the mattress, I reached high above my head and created the smallest of gaps. Red light filtered through, revealing little immediate danger. I was glad of that night light, even if I never saw much of it under the blankets. A few moments later, I dared a full look, revealing nothing more than my Liverpool pillowcase and white headboard. Phew. Nothing to worry about…except the lions. I stared at the wallpaper: at the giraffes, the rhinos, the monkeys, but it was always the lions that caught me in their never-ending gaze. They looked at me straight on, ready to move. I knew they could move; they were living things on my walls that watched me while I slept. Not just one or two of them of course, but lots, all over my bedroom. I’d started covering them up with posters but I’d need hundreds if I were to ever win my battle. I quickly pull the sheet down and hide away from them. They still watch I’m sure, but I’m safe here, safe from whatever they’re plotting.

Mustn’t get too close to the end of the bed, now. Mum doesn’t always tuck the bottom in, and there’s often a gap. Where are my legs? Are they near the bottom edge? Am I in the middle? How can I know? Maybe just check it out, send a toe out to explore. That’s what explorers do – brave the unknown and then report back what they find. I don’t think I could be an explorer. Too many dangerous things out there. Right, let’s see. I move my left foot a few centimetres down. Nothing, still mattress. A bit more. Same. A bit more…there it is! I quickly draw my foot back. Ok, I’m close but not dangerously so. I relax a little, and think about sleep. A sudden thought snaps me back to the risks I so stupidly had forgotten about. They know I’m here now! They would have seen my foot and now they can come up from the bottom of the bed. I could picture it now: the hand - probably hideously ugly and green - slowly, ever so slowly creeping up over the edge, towards my foot. It could happen! Hang on - was my foot being pulled now? I concentrated all my thoughts on that foot, but was sure something was pulling me down. If not now, then soon, dragging me down, down out of the bed into God knows what kind of pit of slime. I sucked in a deep breath and held it, waiting for my fate. Waiting. Waiting. Praying. Still I held my breath, trying to be totally silent. My chest was bursting, I could see big patches of red but I had to hold on. Heart pumping faster than ever, I blew out a big blast of air and took in several gulps more. Maybe I’d be ok now.

A short time later, I fall asleep.

* * *

This feels familiar. Is this a dream? I’ve been in this situation before – upstairs, in my bedroom, whilst Mum and Dad watch TV downstairs. I don’t know what they’re watching, but I can hear Mum laugh, so it must be something funny. I never get to watch their shows; it’s not fair. I don’t like being here, on my own and I can feel the room somehow getting nearer to me, surrounding me from all four sides. I’ll go downstairs and sit with them, that’s what I’ll do. I’ll run down the stairs and jump on the sofa and stay with them for a while. Yeah, they’ll like that. But then, there’s the landing, isn’t there? The dark, long landing where anything could be lurking. I suppose I could fling open the door, close my eyes, reach for the banister and run down the stairs, three at a time. That would only take a second, surely – no time for anything to get me. It’s quite a challenge though. Just one second from safety, but I’d have to gather all my courage just to take the first step. I wonder if explorers are ever scared? I bet they would just casually walk out the door and down the stairs no problem. I summon all my courage. Let’s do it.

No time for further thoughts, I pull back the bed clothes, close my eyes and rush to the door. I know where I am even blind, and before I know it I can feel the banister in my left hand. Run - run down thirteen steps and you’ll be there!

Three stairs…six…nine...nine…nine…but no further. I reach, pull and stretch as far as I can but only my arms make any progress. They’ve got me! Just round the corner, my Mum laughs again, unaware of the terror that I am currently facing. I go to scream – mouth as wide as a Frisbee – but nothing, absolutely nothing comes out. I scream in my head for my parents to help – to free me, but they don’t hear. Now I remember. I’d been here many times before, and I never made it to them. Then it started – the long, slow drag back upstairs by an invisible force taking me back to their lair. I watch as the front door gradually gets smaller, the dim light of the front room slowly being replaced by the darkness behind me. Back and back I go, silently screaming, trying to swim to safety, trying to grab onto anything to stop the relentless pull into the deadly shadows.

I awake, sweating, crying, with the noise of my heart booming in my ears. It was just that nightmare again. Maybe it will be morning soon and this hellish night will finally be over. Somehow, I knew they were coming for real.

I’ve stopped crying now, but things are not good. I can’t move. At all. I can’t scream, I can’t move my arms, my legs, my head – I can’t even blink! I’m definitely awake – this isn’t a nightmare now. It’s about to happen; they are about to finally get me and I’m going to be powerless. My body starts to move. No! Where are they taking me? An invisible force with no hands slowly drags me out of the safety of my bed, while I scream and scream for Mum and Dad to come in and save me. I can hear the wind howling in my room - why can’t they hear this from their bedroom? I’m clear of the bedclothes now, hanging in mid air, like washing from Mum’s line. The curtains flap wildly before me, as I’m moved face-first towards them, inching ever closer. Like deep purple capes of evil superheroes, they whip at my face, hiding whatever terror lurks behind them.

I’m floating high above my bed, just waiting for them to make their next move. As I start to hear them speak, I go numb inside and give in to my fears.

ISAP (Immigrant Settlement and Adaptation Program)(008) -- Anonymous, 07:50:40 03/24/08 Mon

ISAP helps newcomers gain access to community services to meet their immediate needs.

Under ISAP, immigrant-serving organizations can:

* refer you to economic, social, health, cultural, educational and recreational services;
* give you s on banking, shopping, managing a household and other everyday tasks;
* provide interpreters or translators, if you need them;
* provide non-therapeutic counselling; and
* help you prepare a professional-looking résumé and learn job-searching skills.

The Immigrant Settlement and Adaptation Program (ISAP), a federal government program, pays for these services.

A list of immigrant-serving organizations across Canada can be found on the Internet
at www.cic.gc.ca/english/newcomer/welcome/wel-20e.html.

:

Your local immigrant-serving organization can direct you to a LINC Assessment Centre, which will then refer you to organizations offering LINC classes. You can also refer to the book Welcome to Canada: What You Should Know to find a LINC Assessment Centre in your area.

Manitoba, British Columbia and Quebec have programs similar to LINC, the Host program and ISAP, but they may have slightly different names.

Your local immigrant-serving organization can direct you to a Host program organization in your community.
