Subject: Pedastal Child! Pt 2-Sierra

After driving to the Airport Hilton by rental car, Coleen felt the adrenaline rush of excitement knowing that competition was
only hours away. Tammy was very sleepy so the pageant became the least of her thoughts. After checking in, Coleen didn't
have Tammy practice since she was so jet lagged; so she allowed her to get ready for bed. Meanwhile back in Oregon, a girl
wearing a ring ages old made of gold with a marquee shaped diamond that was 1 mm wide and 2 mm long. It also had a ruby
buried in the middle of it. Standing in her bedroom, the worry of making the cheerleading squad raced through her mind. She
was estatic about spending all summer practicing. Come on Persria (the name of the ring) give me my desires!", the girl utterly
said. After alerting the ring of her request, she took her thumb and pressed the ring with it it which caused the ring to glow. It's
light glared in the girl's eyes as she watched in awe. At 4:45am, there was a knock on Coleen's door of the hotel. Since she
was already awake, the was no bother to her. Opening the door, she discovered that it was the hair and make-up artist Debra
Collins. "Good morning!", cried Debra as Coleen relied back looking at her as though she was a ray of sunshine. Hugging each
other in happiness, Coleen invited Debra inside. "I was just about to wake Tammy.", Cried Coleen. "Tammy," Coleen said
while lightly shaking her. "It's showtime!" She woke right up without protest. The look of sleepiness remained on her face
heavily as she dragged herself out of bed heading to the bathroom. "Oh look at the little sleepyhead!", cried Debra. "She's
pretty used to waking up this early anyway!",cried Coleen. Because she gets up at 5am for school. So do you have another
contestants you're doing hair and make-up for?" "I have 20 other contestants! I have 5 in the 4-5 age group, 5 in the 8 to 10, 5
in the 13 to 15, and 5 in the 16 to 20 age group!" Debra happily responded. She charges $300 for hair and make-up services.
To the parents and contestants paying, it's well worth the money. After Tammy took and shower and put on her clothes, she sat
in the chair so Debra could work her magic. Registration was at 8am but it didn't take her long. While doing Tammy's hair and
make-up, she and Coleen devoured themselves in pageant talk. After Debra was done with Tammy, Coleen marveled at her
look. Her hair had a huge size french roll in the back of her head with lots of curls in the middle, topped with a large sized
pageant bouffant (pouffe). Her make-up was done according to her age group. Since she was only 9, it was lightly enhanced.
To really increase her appearance, Debra placed false lashes on her. "Oh my baby!", exclaimed Coleen "you are gorgeous!"
Debra's make-up format on Tammy made her eyes look as though people were looking into in ocean. "You're going to win!"
Coleen said excitedly!", You have done a fabulous job! You always do a fabulous job! What do you think Tammy?" She
happily asked. "I love it!", Tammy cried. "I'll be back for to do her hair for the sportswear competition!", cried Debra while
packing her beauty supplies to head to the next client. "Ok I'll see you then!", said Coleen excitedly while walking her to the
door. "I am so glad Tony introduced me to you!" After saying good-bye to Debra, Coleen continued looking at Tammy in
happiness and excitement. "Tammy baby, you are gorgeous! I mean really REALLY gorgeous!", Coleen excitedly said. Let's
go an get breakfast cause registration is only an hour away and the Beauty division starts at 9.

As they were both in the hotel lobby heading to the restaurant, they both saw other parents and children from the pageant
competition. The vibes were both friendly and unfriendly. Some of the parents were giving envious looks to the children looking
well pageant prepared while the other parents demonstrated healthy sportsmanship. Even some of the girls as early as 7 years
old gave vicious look to other girls in their age group and to some a little older. Seeing this disturbed Coleen and Tammy only a
bit. But since they were both stage ready, the disturbed feeling distinguished. While in the restaurant, both Tammy and Coleen
were met by another mother and daughter competing. "Are you entering the pageant", asked the mother while standing at the
table with her 8 year old daughter. "Yes!" answered Coleen excitedly. "So is my Brittany!", cried the women. "I'm Amanda!",
she cried while shaking Coleen's hand. "May I join you?", Sure! Coleen cried. As Amanda and Brittany sat with them, Coleen
noticed that Brittany looked just as prepared as her daughter. "Boy we have prepared for this pageant for months!", cried
Amanda. But Brittany has entered pageants ever since she was five about every other weekend. Yeah she has over 75 titles!"
Coleen's eyes stretched after hearing this. "So how many pageants has your daughter entered? I don't recall ever seeing her
before." Amanda replied as Tammy and Brittany looked at their menus. "This is her first pageant!", cried Coleen. "But I have
used Tony Shawn for coaching and he also does her pictures!" "Really!" exclaimed Amanda "Oh he's the best! Your daughter
stands an incredible chance at winning!" Coleen smiled in glory to the positive response. "Oh there's Pamela and her daughter
Melissa.", said Amanda. "That girl has done pageants since she splashed from her mommy's womb. I know she's won over 100
titles!", said Amanda enviously while looking out of the window of the restaurant. When Coleen saw Melissa, she instantly
knew the girl was a veteran. Seeing Melissa made Tammy a bit nervous as Brittany squinted her childish eyes at Melissa.
Melissa's hair, make-up, and grace revealed her long term stage etiquette and pageant style. Some of the other contestants and
moms hugged Melissa and her Pamela. Having their trance broken by the waiter, the four of them have him their breakfast
order. While waiting on the food, Amanda and Coleen continued discussing pageants as Melissa and Tammy conversated.
"Does Tammy go to regular school?", asked Amanda. "Yeah she loves it!", cried Coleen. "I took Brittany out. She goes to
homeschoolin' in order to keep up with her pageant schedule!", cried Amanda. This brought a small, surprising look on the face
of Coleen.

Are pageants really this creepy having little girls being jealous over other girls and some even being older than them? What are these mothers teaching these girls. They will get hurt in life obsessing over their looks.

Yes they can be at times. It's 50/50 though. I have judged children's pageants and you do see little girls as young a 6 and 7 squinting their eyes at other kids and even teens. I see 12 year olds giving harsh looks to grown women in the miss division. The mothers (and fathers) can be just as bas when they see contestants who are either attractive and/or performs well.-Sierra
