Intensified fire on Israel-Lebanon border

The border between Israel and Lebanon is the scene of intensified Israeli tank fire. It follows unprecedented missile strikes on the port of Haifa which Hizbollah denies firing, and the kidnapping of two Israeli soldiers on Wednesday. Israel's interior minister Ronnie Bar-On, on a visit to the central operations centre in the northern town of Kyria Shmona, said he was "very satisfied" with the Israeli army's military operation.

"Nobody will intimidate Israelis living on the northern borders again", he added. As the Israeli army tightens its air, land and sea blockade on Lebanon, Hizbollah's charismatic leader Hassan Nasrallah has been clearly identified as a target. "We will settle the account with him fully somewhere, sometime," said the interior minister.
