I apppreciate all the responses and would like to add that it would be more of a pet for me. Logan is extremely good with animals. When Stitch was with us Logan sat down on the sofa and waited until I let him pet Stitch, Logan was allowed to feed him as well. He will be 5 in February so he is not a "young" 4 year old...

respect for animals of all kinds. Compassion and respect will carry into their personal lives with people and they'll be much better adults for it.

Lord knows, we need more compassion and love all around. Thanks for teaching your child well.

Flyers are wonderful little creatures. They are very small though. Even as an adult I have to be very careful during playtime that I know where Rockie is at all time. In low light during our playtime she moves so fast and sometimes I have no idea how she got from one place to the other without me seeing her. I'm always on the alert not to step anywhere fast or sit down fast, or move without making sure she's not anywhere where I might injure her.

Good luck with all and keep us posted !

I agree with all the above and would like to add that we had our 4 1/2 yr. old grandson living with us when we got our first flyers that were pinkies. Then we got our 5 week old flyer and had to bottle feed him. We taught our grandson how to hold and be very gentle with him and if Mr. Whiskers was on our grandson he had to be very still and not to move around. Our grandson is now almost 10 yr. old and is great with our flyers. Our other grandchildren are also learning how to be very careful with our very special fur ball babies. I think having them has not only brought us as grandparents closer to our grandchildren but has taught our grandchildren how to have respect for small critters and large too. Good luck and I hope your able to find a hand raised baby for you and your son to love together. Please keep up posted.
