Flying Squirrels are not illegal in Pa. as long as you obtain one from a game commission licensed breeder. They are illegal if you get one from the wild or import one from out of state. The permit you need for a flyer is the receipt that you get from the PGC licensed breeder with all his info on it. I should know. I'm the owner of Keystone Exotics and have been breeding and selling squirrels in Pa. for at least 5 years now. If a person wants a squirrel and lives in Maryland, I cannot sell one because they are totally illegal in Md.

(Thanks for this information, Mike! I'd like to share it with ...) the other Voy.com flying squirrel messageboards,Flying Squirrel Fancier and For Flyers Only and with the National Flying Squirrel Association's messageboard, as well. I'll assume that's agreeable, or this wouldn't be on the FSMB, at all. I'll add a link to your Keystone Exotics site, as well.

My best wishes for your continued success in raising flying squirrels in Pa, and making these 'wee bits of wonderment' available to interested Keystone state residents.
