Subject: One of Blossom's babies died

In the last couple of box checks on the pups we could see two of the three were behind in development. I wasn't surprised that the smallest one died. The first one is doing well and is the size and development that you would expect for 5 weeks. The second one might not make it either. We'll never know the reason as I've fed Blossom the same foods I have all along. She uses her calcium block and I put the L & M vitamins in her water just as I've always done. This was sad as I had homes for all three. Two of the people might have to wait for another litter.

I'm very sorry to hear this Avalon. I's hard losing a little one that you get so close to during weaning. Don't feel that you did anything wrong. Flyers can be hard to breed in captivity. There may have been something as simple as the little one being pushed away by it's siblings or Mama might have senced it was frail and pushed it away. I've seen both these things occur with other animals over the years. It's not easy when it happens, but unfortuneately it's part of life. Just know that you did your best and this little one had a loving home during its short stay.

I'm so sorry, Avalon. I don't have any insight for you, but I just wanted you to know I'm thinking about you and how sorry I am.
