As regent of Sunday, Michael, in his role as planetary angel, assumes the characteristics of the Sun, mitigating any tendency to excess and encouraging its virtues. Michael's name means "He Who Is As God," which is fitting as the Sun is the cosmic symbol of the Almighty, being the great light of the world sustaining all life through the radiation of light and warmth. The Sun represents abundance, vitality, energy, and power. It also stands for material and spiritual growth and perfection, sharing its symbol with gold, the metal it evolves to perfection in the crucible of the Earth.
The Sun's influence is benign, but too much can be spoiling. With Michael's help we can ensure against pride, selfishness, and egocentricity, receiving instead the illumination to awe us into humility and lead us into grace. Then can we reflect the light of love and share it with our neighbors.
Noon on Sundays, especially during summer, is the best time to invoke or petition Michael. Look out for omens involving his correspondences during the following week. Results may be as long as a year in coming, but will often unfold by the following solstice.
