As a planetary angel, Raphael is the regent of Wednesday and embodies the qualities of its ruling planet Mercury. Personified by the Greeks and Romans as Hermes/Mercurius, the messenger of the gods, he was often depicted as an androgynous youth wearing winged sandals and a winged cap.
