歐盟擴大后翻譯費激增
【大紀元1月13日報導】(据中廣新聞報導)歐盟去年5月一號完成東擴，擴大后的歐
盟，成員國增加到25國，為了解決語言隔閡的問題，歐盟在翻譯上的支出，將比組
織擴大前激增百分之六十，預計今年歐盟在翻譯上的花費將超過十億歐元。（夏明
珠報導）

歐盟在東擴前最后一年，也就是2003年度，翻譯文件多達一百三十万頁，作業支出
五億四千九百万歐元，去年5月一號，歐盟吸納十個新的成員國后，組織擴大，成員
國使用的語言也更复雜了，翻譯上的花費，當然也水漲船高。

擴大后的歐盟，公民數從先前的三億七千多万，增加到四億五千多万，使用的官方
語言，也從先前的十一种，增加到二十种，為了維持內部机构作業效率，歐盟執委
會估計，每增加一种語言，歐盟就得增聘八十個翻譯人員。

歐盟執委會說，為了把內部資訊正确的傳達給每個成員國，讓所有歐盟公民都能享
有公平參与歐盟事務的机會，翻譯的費用省不得，

歐盟執委會估計，歐盟平均每天召開五十到六十場會議，同步翻譯支出，一年就要
花掉將近兩億四千万歐元，其他文書作業的翻譯費，更是几倍于此。

歐盟今年編列總預算一千零五十億歐元，大概占歐盟生產總值的百分之一。歐盟目
前在翻譯上碰到的最大問題就是馬爾他語，馬爾他是地中海小國，人口只有四十万，
今年5月一號加入歐盟，歐盟前年公開招聘馬爾他語的傳譯，不過至今沒有找到滿意
的人選。
