five years after Gladiator, almost to the day, I think. In many ways, KoH is reminiscent of Gladiator -- only bigger, longer, bloodier, but with a somewhat thinner plot.
Still the message is very clear and I applaud Ridley for making a movie that shows very bluntly what all kinds of (religious) "crusades" really were and still are. I also appreciated the fact that he didn't fall into the H-wood trap and show Muslims as the villains. He's too inteligent for that anyway.

On a lighter note, I enjoyed the rugged beauts Liam and Jeremy, even Orlando looked like he'd actually grown a Y chromosome for the movie (sorry if I offended any Legolas lovers, lol). The cinematography is vintage Ridley -- simply stunning. I was moved to tears once as I am always when I hear Vide Cor Meum (lyrics taken from Dante's La Vita Nuova) -- a beautiful aria by Patrick Cassidy which R. Scott had already used in Hannibal. All in all, a movie which will stay with me for quite some time.

P. S. Pay attention to the king under the iron mask / yeah, another Glad deja vu :-) /.
