(they are from hot rod, t-bucket suppliers) I am just begining an extensive mod job and any input would be greatly appreciated.

  • 351 in '77 Cobra II? -- Grandpa, 23:50:25 01/05/02 Sat (216.142.233.105)
We're going to look at a '77 Cobra II that has had a 351 installed by a previous owner. Was wondering if you guys could give some tips or hints on what to look for. Does the car need beefier front end or other mods to hold up to the heavier engine? It has auto trans, but I don't know which one yet.

Thanks for the help - if we get the car we'll probably be on here pretty often to learn from your experience!

Hi. I race a stock car with a 2.3L ford engine. Someone gave me a 2.3 from an 88' Mustang. Its in great shape, but I think it has an electric fuel pump (I havent seen it yet) We have to run manual fuel pumps...This might be a stupid question but is there a way I can adapt the motor to run with a manual pump?? If you have any advice, I'd really appreciate it if you could email me @ tmmotorsports395@aol.com

    Thanks,

If you're ready to sell your 76 to 78 fastback or Cobra II w/302, STRAIGHT, NO RUST, and priced right please contact me. I would prefer original, but high performance or rolling body OK. Prefer black or tan interior with automatic tranny, but flexible. Houston area and surrounding ONLY! I have traveled over 2100 miles this month only to discover rusted out, bondo infested, performance want to be's that should have been put down long ago and I am all traveled out. I know Mustang II's and high performance small block Fords and will identify any attempted cover-ups, fakes, or frauds so if your going to lie, misrepresent, or exaggerate your car don't waste my time! If you have what I am looking for and nothing to hide and you are looking for a good home for your car I would love to hear from you. Email me at:

  • A good serpentine belt drive for the II -- Cobra II, 02:07:36 07/28/01 Sat (205.188.198.188)
For those of you wanting to update the belt drive system in your II, the best belt drive to use is the 83 (& surrounding years) 5.0. You will have to use the reverse clutch fan (which works better) & the smaller, lighter compresser. With a few modifications to the hoses, the compressor will work just as good as the orignal. The emmisions, alternater & P/S lines & wires will not have to be modified. The top coolant hose with an in-line filler cap should clear the Alt. (Haven't experimented with the one piece upper hose yet.) I, & a few friends of mine have used this drive on a few of our II's, & are very satisfied.
