This pageant benefits such a great cause! I would like to challenge everyone to participate. My brother Van has been battling leukemia for the past three years so my family knows first hand what an organization like this can do for children who are dealing everyday with life threatening diseases. Both my sister and I will be there in honor of our brother Van. We hope to see you there too!

Thanks Ms. Vickie for the sweet message about Shelby. She has been doing this since the age of 4!!! It only took her 2 hours to raise the 500.00. We try to do better each year. She loved being on T.V and representing her Sweet Potato title. Thanks again for the challenge we will see how good she can do next year.She will be doing the Enigma Firecracker this weekend. I would like to let everyone to know just what this sweet little Queen has done. She was on t.v. this past saturday and presented a check to the Childrens Miracle Network for $500 dollars. Shelby went out and collected this money on her own to give to these children. Shelby was wearing her Sweet Potato crown and banner and I was so proud to see her standing there representing us. I know her parents are so proud of her.Shelby, you will truly be blessed for caring so much for other peoples needs. The pageant committee will make a pledge from here on out to give each year to this cause and would to challenge all other pageants to do the same thing. If one child can do this on her own, then think what we could give as a group. After all, isn't giving to children what we are all about. Shelby, you were beautiful on t.v. and again I am so proud to have you as our Queen.

The MISS IRWIN COUNTY Pageant will be held on August 20th in Fitzgerald Ga. It is open to girls ages 1year through 16 years. Our Miss division is closed to Irwin Co. girls only. Plans for the 2005 Miss Liberty Pageant are underway. The pageant will be held July 23, 2005 at 10:00 am in Willacoochee, GA. There will be a guestbook drawing on July 15, 2005. The pageant are for ages 0-19 years old. We will have several catagories. Beauty, Photogenic, Prettest Dress, Prettiest Hair, & Prettiest Smile. Meghan Evans, our own Miss Irwin county received a very special treat. She was invited to Miama Fla. to appear on the hit show O.C. Meghan said she had a blast and will let us know when the episode will air. Way to go Meghan. Also , she stepped in and helped emcee The Miss Dogwood pageant at the last minute when their Queen was having voice problems. She did a great job. Meghan you have been a blessing to have as our Queen this year.Someone is going to have a big job taking your place when you give up your title. Thanks for all you do.

Who is eligible?

Any girl age 6 months to 17 who is a resident anywhere in the state of Georgia for sister Miss Presidential Pathways pageants and for sister Miss Tifton pageants the counties of Tift, Irwin, Ben Hill, Berrien, Turner, Cook, Colquitt, Worth, Coffee, Dougherty, Lowndes, Crisp,Dodge, Brooks, Atkinson, Lanier, Echols, Clinch, Wilcox, Telfair and Lee County.

Why?
The winners of the pageants serve as little sisters to Miss Presidential Pathways and Miss Tifton who compete in the Miss Georgia Pageant in June which is an official state preliminary to the Miss America Pageant. The 2005 Miss Presidential Pathways and Miss Tifton for girls age 17 to 24 will be held Saturday, January 15 in Tifton at the Tift Theatre for the Performing Arts. Winners of the baby miss, wee miss, little miss, preteen miss, Tifton's Teen Sweetheart, Presidential Pathways' Teen Sweetheart and teen miss are expected to be present on January 15 and will be introduced at the pageant.

Age categories for sister Miss Presidential Pathways and Miss Tifton:

Baby Miss: Ages 6 months to 2 years
Wear short dresses only
Wee Miss: Ages 3, 4, 5
Wear short dresses only
Little Miss: Ages 6, 7, 8
Wear short or long dresses
Preteen Miss: Ages 9, 10, 11, 12
Wear short or long dresses

All of the above age groups will compete onstage only and all except Baby
Miss will be asked a simple personality question onstage


Teen Miss: Ages 13, 14, 15, 16, 17
Wear long dresses only for evening gown competition 20%
There will be a personality question onstage
There will be a five-minute interview with the judges 50%
Talent competition: Time limit of 2 minutes 30%

Please note if you want to compete in Miss Teen Tifton or Miss Teen Presidential Pathways, you are required to compete in the talent competition.


New teen category and title added this year with NO talent category nor private judges' interview.

Age Requirement
Teen Miss contestants must be 13 years of age and no more than 17 years
of age on January 15, 2005. No exceptions to the age limit. The miss
teen winner is eligible to compete at Miss Teen Georgia America. To
compete in Miss Teen Tifton or Miss Teen Presidential Pathways, you must
meet these age requirements as of January 15. You are ineligible to
compete if you are 12 years of age on January 15, 2005 but will turn 13
by June 30, 2005. A contestant must be no more than 17 years of age on
June 30, 2005.

Tifton's Teen Sweetheart and Presidential Pathways' Teen Sweetheart
winners do not compete at the state level.

Photogenic Award – (One award for each age category)

Entry Fees:

$50 for each age bracket.

Additional: $15.00 for Photogenic Contest

You can obtain a sponsor for these fees. All contestants will receive an
award for participation. Deadline for entry is Friday, December 31, 2004.

They were invited to have lunch with Miss Georgia at Tifton Georgia for hospice month. It was very nice luncheon and all the girls got there picture made with Miss Georgia.

Racheal McCall was elected National FFA Southeast Regional Vice President Saturday. She was 2003-2004 Miss Sweet Potato Queen. She is the daughter of John David and Betty McCall (a former Sweet Potato Queen). Racheal will be traveling all year in and out of the United States. We are so proud of Racheal and her accomplishments. She is truly a Queen and role model. We love you Racheal!!!!!

Racheal's best friend, Brittanie Faircloth the 2003-2004 Miss Colony City was voted Wilcox County 2004 Homecoming Queen. She was also voted "Best Personality" out of her senior class. We love you Brittanie!!!! We can not count how many teachers and students came up to us and told us what a sweet and nice person you are to everyone. One teacher told us you are a Queen and acts like a Queen should act. Brittanie, you make your parents proud!!!!

Look for the Georgia Sweet Potato Queens,Irwin County Queens
and Spirit of Christmas Queens on floats at the Sweet Potato parade this Saturday. I know all of them will be beautiful. We will also have a tent set up at the old elementary school where everyone can come by and meet our Queens. We will have applications for our Spirit of Christmas pageant which will be held on November 20th.

We are getinng a good response for our pageant. Thanks to all who have entered and called about it. At this time I have heard from nearly 100 contestants. Our pageant is a state pageant that is now fixing to be in the 44th year. We also treat our Queens like royalty and give them great prizes and scholarship money to continue their education. Our Queens promote the Georgia Sweet Potato pageant and the festival for our community throughout the year. They are invited to many different funtions throughout the year and help us with differnt community events. Deadline to enter: Entry fee and application must be received by September 25th. Photogenic pictures may be turned in during rehearsal or mailed with your application. Directors are not responsible for pictures left after pageant. Also, photogenic pictures will not be mailed afterwards if left at the auditorium.

Rehearsal: Each contestant is encouraged to attend the rehearsal, but it is not required. The rehearsal is set for Friday October 1st @6:00pm at the Valdosta High School Fine Arts Building.
