Subject: Ed at Enmore/Dont Look Back

The Died Pretty/Ed Lookback gig certainly got a an enthusiastic crowd, in a room filled with probably more people than they played to when these 2 classic albums were released.

Ed was backed by his current band of Jeff and Pete, and were augmented by Allister Spence(?) on keyboards.

It was great to hear some of these wonderful songs again. I always always felt the last couple of songs on the CD werent as strong as the others, so by doing the set in same order as the album meant finishing with those couple, which to me, lost the impetus the earlier songs had built up.

One intresting thing was that watching Died Pretty, there was certainly a bond between the songs and the band members. It obviously brought back memories to them, and the smile DP's bass player had when he played a bass line he was proud of or finished a song by giving Ron Peno a hug, was something that Eds band obviously didnt have. If Mark Dawson was on drums or Chris Abrahams on piano for Ed would have they smiled ?? Maybe not, but their may have been a look of pride.

Anyway great concept, and thanks to both bands. Next weeks Melbourne shows should be even better.

Died Pretty played an encore(s) after Doughboy Hollow, which was probably longer than the 'main' set. (Just in case someone may have thought DP may do a version of Eds Eternally Yours, which they had recorded in mid 90's, they didnt, so there was no Ed/DP joint finale).
