It was a fine performance - I do agree about the slight intensity dip towards the end of the album contributing to an oddly-paced set, but overall extremely exciting.
Highlights for me were hearing King of Vice live for the first time in about 15 years, also Friday's Blue Cheer / Libertines of Oxley and HSG itself were outstanding.
I thought JW did an outstanding job on this material, covering off the basics of Dawson's more disciplined style while being able to inject some of his own fire and swing.
Great to hear some enthusiastic crowd reaction for Everything I've Got... and Way I Made You Feel as well. Apart from the musical thrill of seeing these guys stretch out on some intricate pieces, it was really special to see them playing to such a warm crowd in such a nice big room. While I'm still unsure about the overall merit of the Don't Look Back concept, it's definitely a plus if it manages to reawaken some wider interest in Kuepper's activities.
