PTRA Drag Racing on television this Friday night -- JASON, 07:41:29 07/08/08 Tue [1]
This is a post straight from Tony Brown on headsupsuperseries.com
Here are the details:
Friday night, July 11 at 1 AM (actually Saturday morning), on Charlotte based Channel 55 MY 12 on cable, we will air full coverage of the May 10th Piedmont Meineke Car Care Center PTRA Drag Racing event. This was the third stop of the TCI Heads-Up Super Series. The program has turned out pretty good thanks to Nasty Notch Productions, Jason Brown and Stephen Daurity. When the footage was filmed, just a video was in the plan. So, we are happy with the way it came out as a full coverage show, but the next one should be better. I need a few lessons from Mike Dunn. The Darlington race from June 28 will be aired on Friday night, August 15 (actually August 16) at 1 AM. Tell everyone you know because it is rare to see this kind of racing on television. It is harder than it looks to look in a camera and remember what to say. We already have a "bloopers" show that will be shown at the half way party at Piedmont on July 18th at Eddie Smith's trailer area after the shootouts. Don't forget about the PTRA halfway party on Friday night after the Meineke Car Care Center Shootouts for 5.30, 6.00, 7.00 and Pro Tree Eliminator top eight in points from 2007. Then, see a full show of Top Street, True Street, Performance Street, 5.30, 6.00, 7.00 and Pro Tree Eliminator on Saturday.

2008 Real Street Rules -- Brandon, 03:16:09 01/25/08 Fri [10]
Consider this for part of the rules for 2008 Real Street.
Any STOCK SUSPENSION car that chooses to run a 26x10 slick, is allowed the progressive controller ( still have to run plate NOS ).
If you go back at look at the Real Street cars over the past few years, the fastest small-block cars were only running in the mid-upper 40's @3000 lb. Now they have to weigh 3100 lb.
My sugestion is to present the exception rule as a trial basis for 4-5 races. See if these cars are dominating the class (I don't think they will), and if so, then remove it from the rules.
Would appreciate an e-mail back on this please!!!!

Largest Drag Radial Race in History $15 grand to win -- Mike Fulbright, 16:53:22 01/02/08 Wed [1]
This is the largest purse in Drag Radial history! October 24-26, 2008, at Bradenton Motorsports Park. This will be an 1/8 mile event. Any motor combination is welcome. We're working very closely with Alan, and the exact rules will be posted soon. If you're building a car, finish it! If you're thinking about building a car, start now!!
Bradenton is an awesome track, and you'll be looking to see how much power you can put down rather than how much you have to take away!
This race is being done for the radial tire guys, because you always get overlooked when the purse is figured up. Looking forward to seeing who has the baddest radial tire car in the country!!

- Mike Fulbright's Broken Ankle..... -- Christy Fulbright, 05:43:04 11/08/07 Thu [2]
I'm sure most of you talked with Mike yesterday (as he gets 500 calls a day, but in case you didn't, he broke his right ankle at work yesterday. He had surgery last night at Frye to put a plate and screws on the fibula(the outside leg bone) at his ankle, repaired all of the ligaments that were messed up on the inside of the ankle and they put in a large screw connecting the fibula and tibia(inside leg bone) because that one slipped out of place and had to be pulled back. He will have stiches removed in one week and get a hard cast for 3-4 weeks. Then therapy and a removable walking cast for who knows how long. The large screw has to be surgically removed in 10 weeks. So...he's not supposed to put weight on it for maybe 4 1/2 months....can't drive, not sure about work? He's still at the hospital today, room 551, but should be released tonight. Please pass this along to anyone that would be interested and you can call or email too. His number is 320-1278 (which I know is the Magic Mike button on your phone) or my number is 302-0964, christyfulbright@homeimpressions.com
He's doing fine, just tell him to suck it up and deal with it. Thanks, Christy

- Future of the SSCA -- someone who cares, 09:37:09 06/21/07 Thu [3]
I was just wondering if there is anyone who still thinks that the SSCA is still a viable place to race? It is pretty obvious to the racers and fans that the people running it do not care if it sinks or swims anymore due to their interest in other places. This used to be a great place to race with good people to race with and even better competition. I think we need some excitement put back in the class. This needs to be a class for the racers by the races, it DOES NOT need to be a class that is run by internet jockys that don't understand that it costs a lot of money to heads up racing. I am so tired of listening to people bitch and whine about who has what and how much money they have invested in their quest for the win light. It's a fact of life that heads up racing is expensive. If you want cheap then try bracket racing. If some of these people were actually involved with this type of racing they would understand that at every race almost every car there has the chance of winning the race. The cars are unpredictable to say the least and on a small tire and on the tracks that we run traction is a crap shoot at best. I guess I am really upset at the fact that we have a chance to have an sanctioning body were we could have some real fast heads up racing but the naysayers would rather keyboard race than to step up and make the sacrifices it takes to be competitive. I really see this class not being around next year because of the lack of interest of the organizers and all the internet racers pissing and moaning weighing heavy on the people that make it happen. This was a great class up until this year and it seems that no one has the will to get up off their ass and schedule some dates and keep people interested by having races. I think that Mike and the others that run SSCA are letting something great fail just because they are afraid to ask for some help or have just lost interest themselves. Oh well there are always the local races and Top Street.

I think my car spent more time on the lift than it did the track. I'm lucky to have good friends that I race with. I wouldn't have even made it to the finals without these guys, Eddie Jones, Aaron Lee, Dean Whitley, Kevin Dalton, John Dameron, and Jimmy Boyd who jetted his car up to come after me. Those who know me know I'm a quiet laid back guy, so I just wanted to say thank you to all my friends and thanks to the SSCA for giving me a place to race!

- PTRA and SSCA banquet -- Tony Brown, 09:52:00 11/02/06 Thu [1]
I am not wanting to push anyone or bother anyone, but, I have had no response from any SSCA racers on the banquet. I don't care if ya'll don't want to come. I just didn't want it to get to banquet time and have people say "I would have come IF". We are already at near 100 people and the hall only holds 150. The folks at the Holiday Inn extended our deadline on having the money to them until Nov. 20, the day after our last race at Mooresville. To my knowledge, this is the only banquet for the SSCA. I am personally (Atlantic Racing) paying the entire Limited Street points fund. Also, we (the PTRA) are footing the bill for at least $500 worth of banquet facility for this. I don't know if you are under the completely false impression that we are making money on this. I can assure you that Atlantic Racing, and the PTRA are losing money on this, so take advantage of it. We want you to come and enjoy your night. Let us know by calling the store number (704) 398-9955 to reserve your places. Thanks.

- PTRA / SSCA banquet -- Tony Brown, 07:34:40 10/18/06 Wed [1]
The PTRA banquet will be Saturday night, Dec 2 at 7 pm, at the Holiday Inn at the Little Rock Rd exit of I-85 in Charlotte. We will also be recognizing the SSCA points winners and top 5 as well. The cost of the banquet hall is $750 and the cost per person for the meal is a shade over $23. So, we will only charge $25 per person to attend the banquet, which means that we are definitely not making money on this. We wanted to provide you with a nice awards ceremony indoors this year. If you are going to attend, we need you to send the money to:
Atlantic Racing
8101 Belhaven Blvd.
Charlotte, NC 28214
We have to prepay for everything so we need everyone's money by November 1. Call me at the store (704) 398-9955 or email, or private message us to make your reservations. This will be a great time. A cash bar, a very nice meal (ham or London Broil choice), and a lot of socialization and bench racing are in store. Also, we have planned a classy awards ceremony and a fun party atmosphere. Dress is casual. You can reserve a room at the Holiday Inn with special PTRA rates at (704) 394-4301 and mention the PTRA. Come and enjoy the last PTRA event of the year and help us recognize all of our racers.
