Senator William Gormley suspended from practicing law by New Jersey Supreme Court

The Chief Justice of the New Jersey State Supreme Court has suspended Senator William Gormley's license to practice law, effective Oct. 14. Gormley is in good company; his name appears on a list of over 1,000 other attorneys who did not file or pay their annual Interest on Lawyers Trust Accounts (IOLTA) fees.
The IOLTA account pays for legal aid for the poor, improvement of the administration of justice, the education of lay persons in the legal and justice field and benefits for the public as the New Jersey State Supreme Court approves from time to time.
In a phone interview Wednesday morning, Gormley said his fees were paid but a form was not filed. He added that he was not suspended from practicing law, rather he is administatively ineligible to practice law. Gormley argues that it is an important distinction.
"I was not suspended after a hearing," said Gormley. "This is an administrative order. The order was not published until today (Oct. 16). This will be cleared up today," he said. "The money was paid but for one reason or another, there is a basic information sheet with everybody's name on it that was not filed."
Gormley said he has not practiced law since October 14, and called the incident "a technicality... we have done nothing to violate anything. It was one form that has to be filed and I don't know why it was not filed."
The order states: "IT IS ORDERED: that pursuant to Rule 1:28A-2(d), the attorneys on the attached list are administratively ineligible to practice law for their failure to comply with Rule 1:28A in respect of the Court's mandatory IOLTA program, effective October 14, 2002 and until such time as the IOLTA Trustees report to the Court that compliance with the rules and regulations of IOLTA has been established; and it is further
ORDERED: that this Order and the attached list supersede all prior Orders and lists entered by the Court in respect of ineligibility based on non-compliance with IOLTA requirements."

I'm thumbing through the Ocean City Gazette yesterday and there, on page 21, is an article "Helping the Sandman" about the new Sleep Medicine lab at Burdette Tomlin. And there's a big picture of my husband in front of one of those contraptions that do sleep studies. The conversation goes something like this:

"That's nice. Do we have any pretzels?"
Sleep Medicine is one of the up and coming subspecialties and he finds the whats and wherefores of sleep disturbance absolutely fascinating. He, of course, sleeps like a rock.

There is an exhibit of photos taken by average people from all different locations of the World Trade Center catastropne. They are having a recption tomorrow afternoon I believe. The exhibit will probably be there a montb or so.
The pictures are all the same size. It looks like they are 8"x12" or so. They aren't in frames. It looks like they are on clotheslines. It looks like they were copied on a Xerox copier.

For the record, I listened to talk radio all morning and it was some of the best politics,dialogue,and interesting talk radio I've ever heard.
Seth,with the Communist music to open. His interview with the Governor and exchanges with the guests, Seth as usual took over the conversations.
Don says that he doesn't abuse McGreevy and ask the hard questions because he wants him to come back on the show again.
Now we will see if McGreevy will come back on WOND after getting hit with the kind of questions that we all really want to ask.
The reason people were so excited this morning,was because it was the first time in a long time that they've heard the tough questions asked.

Starbucks on the Boardwalk opened today but there weren't too many customers. I think that on of the reasons was that it was so hot out that a hot cup of coffee wasn't what was on the mind of most people.
This Starbucks is owned by an individual person. It's not a company owned store.
The gross casino earnings for September 2002 were in the paper today. The article said that even though the earnings were 6% higher than they were a year ago. they were lower than they were 2 years ago.

If you look closely ar this picture of a pigeon that I took a few weeks ago you will see a band on it's leg. You can't see it here, but there is another band on the other leg.
When I first saw a pigeon with a band on, I thought that it somehow or other got put on by accident. Since then, I have seen too many banded pigeons for it to be an accident.
I happened to have my camera when I spotted this pigeon. My question is, why are pigeons being banded?

Dear Mother,
Mick's grandfather is still staying with us. He is 94 now. The first thing he does in the morning is read the newspaper in bed, he looks at the death's and if his name's not in it he gets up.
Last week he thought he had a hole in his heart, but it turned to be o polo mint in his pyjama pocket.
There was a washing machine in the new house when we moved, but it's not been working very well. Last week I put in ten shirts, pulled the chain, and haven't seen the shirts since.
Mick went to the doctor last week, but when he came home he said the doctor was no good, because all his patients were sick. the doctor told him to take a hot glass of orange juice after a hot bath, he's still drinking the hot bath. The doctor say's he suffers from alcoholic constipation, it means he can't pass a pub.

Dear Dad, excuse the writing, but I had an accident, burn't my fingers in boiling water, all my own fault, I should have felt the water before I put my fingers in it.
I met the landlord at the dog's the other evening, he asked me about last weeks rent, I told him not to worry about last week's and start praying for this week's, it was running in the third race.
We just bought one of those new bathrooms. On one side of the room is a long thing like what we used to feed the pigs in before I left home. Over in the corner is the nicest contraption of all. You put one foot in and wash it clean, then pull the chain and get fresh water for the other foot. Two covers came with it, but we had no use for them in the bathroom, so I am using one as a breadboard and the other has a hole in it , so we framed Grandads picture with it,

Area radio station mogul Howard Green dies at 72

Radio and television mogul Howard Green died Sunday at the Atlantic City Medical Center, Mainland Division in Galloway Township, after a short illness.
Green, 72, capitalized on the communications industry for the past 40 years. He left a trail of supporters and well-wishers along the way.
"On the worst day, he always had time for everybody," said Jane Stark, general manager for WMGM TV-40. "No matter what else was happening, he always had five minutes."
Green bought the NBC affiliate in 1977 when it was WCMC Channel 40 and changed its name to WMGM TV-40 in 1981. The station is the only major network affiliate in New Jersey.
"Today there are mergers and buyouts," Stark said. "He was determined that he was going to keep his local roots here and had no desire to sell out."
Green moved the station offices in 1990 from Swainton in Cape May County to Linwood in Atlantic County.
"The local station will be maintained in perpetuity under the Howard L. Green Foundation," Stark said. "This is what he wanted."
Green also consolidated his radio stations in Linwood. He had acquired WOND-AM 1400 in 1957. Five years later he built WMGM-FM 103.7. He bought WTYO-AM 1580 in Hammonton in 1991.
Michael Schurman, Atlantic County director of highway safety and community affairs, saw Green's ascent firsthand.
"I was Howard Green's first news director. I was his first full-time news reporter for WOND in 1968. I was his first news director and anchor for TV 40," Schurman said. "Howard Green was a great broadcaster who on the way up the ladder of success helped a lot of people."
Green's radio stations have often done well in the Arbitron ratings, which set advertising rates based on the number of listeners.
"He left his footprint on broadcasting in this state and it's a big one," Schurman said.
Green also made his mark on Elmira, N.Y.
He started there as a part-time summer announcer for WENY while he still was in college. He later landed his first full-time job as a radio announcer at WCBA in Corning, N.Y.
Later, he moved to WAYZ in Waynesboro, Pa., as a copywriter, salesman and announcer. He came to Atlantic City in 1957 as the general manager of WOND and eventually became an owner.
Green later bought WENY, where he started; WMMB in Melbourne, Fla.; and WJAB in Portland, Maine.
He added two New Jersey newspapers to his roster along the way and at the age of 29 was inducted as the youngest president of the New Jersey Broadcasters Association. Years later became a repeat president and chairman of the board of the association.

Green also gained the respect of his competitors at The Press of Atlantic City.
"He was well-respected in the media business," said Keith Dawn, publisher of The Press of Atlantic City. "He was an honorable and honest businessman. I enjoyed working closely with him on a number of occasions in recent years."
Green, who was born in Holyoke, Mass., was the son of two Salvation Army officers - Jay and Ruth Green. Never forgetting his humble beginnings, he volunteered with the local Salvation Army advisory board for more than 30 years.
Green said that his mother - whose maiden name was Forrester, of Asbury Park, a Salvation Army officer for more than 60 years - influenced his spirit of volunteerism.
Green is survived by his wife, Maryjane; two brothers, Calvin and Donald; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be attended only by immediate family members.
The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Howard L. Green Foundation (for the Salvation Army), 1601 New Road, Linwood, NJ 08221.
Arrangements were made by the George H. Wimberg Funeral Home, of Linwood.

I was walking through Trump Plaza and I saw an item that I was looking for. It was a keychain. It was the kind that is made out of leather and it wraps around the keys. It looks a little like a wallet. I thought that it might be $20.00 at the most. So I asked the clerk how much it was and she said two hundred dollars ($200.00). That's because it's a Fendi brand.
I think tomorrow I'm going to go to the Hamilton Mall. There's got to be a keychain cheaper than that!

I had WOND on from about 8:30 AM on and when Barbara Altman filled in for Don in the last hour of his show, she said that at the beginning of the next hour (10 AM) the station would be making a big announcement about some change, and that she hoped we would not call in and ask (this was around 9:30) but wait for the announcement. Was there an announcement that I missed? I was a little preoccupied with deskwork, but I did have the radio on.

The Starbucks on the boardwalk near where the Warner Bros. Studio Store used to be opens next week (according to someone that was cleaning the glass windows)! They're going to have around 15 or so tables to sit at inside the store (they're already there). They'll probably have tables outside during the summer. I peaked inside and I saw them trainng employees. I don't know whether or not they'll have ice cream! I hope so, though.

I really do sense that you're trying to do the right thing around here. And, things being so subjective in life, you'll always be open to criticism.
I think it's important to note that all things are not as they appear. For instance, I think there are trouble makers who pretend to be certain people or, pretend that they support a certain person, to create problems.
You madea similar observation a few days ago, and it caught my ear and ear.

I still haven't heard a "local" news brief on WKXW (yet?). Except for hearing part of a pretty sad CARTON/ROSSI excuse for entertainment (yesterday)-I have to say that....
I really like 101.5! The more "boring" the topic-the better! That's where they can really do what they do best, AND-I find the calls from all over NJ are what make the station extraordinarily UNIQUE.
I think that the station has seriously put itself back "in the zone"-and despite the major changes,(ownership,air personalities...(all at one time)-they have managed to KEEP what made them a great station in the first place.(except ROBERTA-I still miss her show)

One person typed in the words "annoying+radio+listeners" and this page came up!,also of the 5 search engine "hits" (people who visited this site after putting keywords in a search engine) today,I find it interesting that 3 of those hits were looking for info. on "keyword" John O' Neil.(and those were just the people who found this site while searching for info.)
May God bless Agent O'Neil and his family and if anyone out there does have any information about what really happened,his family is heartbroken and would probably apprieciate it if someone came forward if there is something that they should know.
