    WoW-TONY,called WHITAKER to tell him that he does not plan on calling JEFF anymore. His complaint is that JEFF spends too much time discussing national issues,AND he claimed that WHITAKER "changes the subject" when things are getting hot with LOCAL issues. TONY said that he prefers hearing about LOCAL TALK He asked JEFF if JEFF ever talked about the DUNES story,and JEFF said that PINKY discussed that topic. TONY mentioned that he also had some opinions about PINKY.

    THEN-TONY said that he "had permission" to say that RICH & RUSTY would not be calling JEFF anymore either.-Oh yeah,TONY said that he will not be listening to JEFF anymore.

    A few minutes later,JEFF said "...I miss Tony...". WHITAKER seemed a little bewildered by TONY'S statements. He said something like he "...didn't know where it was coming from."

    Seen in Today's PRESS-TV-40 will NOT have a news broadcast @ 11pm on the weekends for a little while. JANE STARK was quoted as saying how TV-40 is actually expanding LOCAL news,not cutting back,but that while they adjust to changes,the LOCAL NEWS will not be on on the weekends.

    The weekend news is set to return by the Summer.

    BARBRA ALTMAN discussed the details of this story today. I did a little surf'n and here is a link to a "truth or fact" website. This links is not the actual story,but a discussion on weather or not the story contains a factual encounter.CLICK HERE.............the story that was related today, claimed that our soldiers, while being held as POWs, tried to give Fonda their social security #s, and that she (Fonda),gave the secret messages to the enemy in charge of the POW camp. I think it went on to say that the men were beaten for years after that..........If the account is true,FONDA should be deported from the USA at the least.

    I have a question, on Harry's website he mentions that he has had 70,000 hits since April 2002, that is great but how does the following math work?

    Harry states 10,000 hits a month, well, let's remember we are in January, since April that's 9 months, if he had 10,000 hits a month then wouldn't his hit counter be at 90,000 not 70,000?

    Watching EWTN and I was somewhat astounded to hear that monies raised nation-wide,in support of Susan G. Koman/race for the cure-breast cancer research,may actually be;

    A-keeping breast cancer research results "secret",because the results conclude that women who have a pregnancy terminated-according to a scientific study, are at a higher risk for breast cancer. EWTN claims that because the results of the study might convince a woman not to purposely terminate a pregancy,The SUSAN G.KOMAN foundation is trying to actually confuse women about what the study means,and deny the facts.

    WHY?

    B-Because they (EWTN),claim that the executive head of THE Susan G.Koman Foudation,which raises money in races nation-wide,is ALSO a member of the board for National Planned Parenthood. EWTN also alledges that Planned Parenthood/Susan G. Komen funds are co-mingled somehow.

    The conclusion/warning/ok-EWTN came pretty close to alledging,THAT: runners who are supporting breast cancer research (RACE FOR THE CURE) may unknowingly be supporting the planned termination of live,un-born children. AND,denying the exsistance of an important study of breast cancer causes.

    I looked over the premise of the results from the study on the relation of breast cancer to abortion,and (from what I could distinguish),the results showed a risk for women who purposely have a pregnancy ended,BUT,miscarrige did not carry the same risk. The hypothises/reason had something to do with hormone levels which,in a naturally occuring loss of pregnancy-(miscarrige) are too low to cause the type of result that researchers suspect is what causes the possible future breast cancer patients to be put at risk.

    I also find it intresting that the pro-abortion spin on this research,claims that "delayed childbearing" is what the study concludes as the reason for the relation to increased risk for breast cancer (which is NOT what the study says),when you can bet that they know exactly why the scientists think that abortion directly causes breast cancer. And it has nothing to do with delaying child-bearing and everything to do with an abrubtly changing a woman who is carrying a healthy pregnancy into a non-prego person. Something about milk producing hormone cells having some kind of a sudden panic and changing cells in a woman's breast in some weird way

    *I'm not putting this info. here to cause anyone worry, or to be mean. From what I could tell from the research, there is no evidence that this would happen to all women or even all breast cancer patients.(I've heard that men can get it too) Just another risk factor. BUT- being "politically correct" is not a good enough reason to try to fool people when it comes to health.

    Cops find witness to W. Natick gunfight - but no suspects

    Police investigating a daytime shootout at the West Natick MBTA commuter rail station said they have found a ``credible'' witness and an abandoned car battered by bullets, but no suspects.

    The witness, a commuter, ``saw the shots being fired,'' T spokesman Joe Pesaturo said yesterday. ``There were more than two individuals involved.''

    A teenager who limped into Framingham Union Hospital shortly after Friday afternoon's brazen brawl with a bullet wound in his leg has been questioned about the gunfight by police, but not charged.

    ``When they interviewed him, he generated more questions than answers,'' Pesaturo said of Christopher Miller, 19, of Atlantic City, N.J.

    Police were trying to obtain a search warrant yesterday to scour a maroon Ford Contour they found parked on Clifton Street in Framingham Friday.

    Natick police Sgt. Richard Douglas said in addition to blood on the backseat, the car had bullet holes in its windshield and a passenger window.

    Police also were looking for a small white car that might have been involved in the incident.

    -I thought that LANGFORD sounded really good. Enthusiastic,and smart about all topics discussed. Langford's complimentry comments about CALLAWAY, a surprize. PINKY & LANGFORD were discussing some kind of commitee of which PINKY is the chairman,LANGFORD'S comments about CALLAWAY,were about Callaway also contributing to the commitee, and bla,bla,bla.(it was real nice-I can't remember exactly what was said)

    THEN,"Mr.Pollilo" called and LANGFORD invited HIM to also serve on the committee,which is dedicated to improving Atlantic City. Langford said that it had been "an oversight" that Pollilo had not been asked sooner.(ok-which one was he talking to?)

    ....there was a lot more chitty-chat,oh and about the 12 TRAFFIC OFFICERS,that was interesting,Langford stated that the Traffic Officers were hired to save the city money,instead of paying regular ACPD overtime pay when traffic duty was needed. Another city official called in to report that even if the Traffic Officers did put in overtime themselves,the city would still save money when compared to applying regular cops to traffic duty.

    I must say that I was really impressed with the way that Langford presented himself today.

    Mike, You follow things in radio very closely. And usually have a lot of insight and even inside info. There are quite a few outright lies being told here. You know the key demos and exactly what they are. You also know exactly what Hurley's ratings are. Further, you also know that he has more listeners than the rest in the top 2 key demos. And, that to have more listeners on the weekend vs. weekdays is quite an accomplishment.How bout lending your expertise and give this some clarity. If Hurley's numbers were bad, you know darn well, the haters would be blaring them from the highest mountain top. Your thoughts would be appreciated and respected, Mike.

    As some of you may know-it always amazed me to see this page on top of ALL the search engine lists. I never did any "tricks" like pay for a listing,or submit the page zillions of times-(maybe 5 at the most),OR even putting meta-search keywords like "free sex now!" in the header code,nope-the search spiders were just grabbing up all of the stuff that we were chatting about,and rating-(yes-I said the horrible word-RATING!),the page.

    Harry was really nasty this morning.

    I can't say that I'm not going to listen to him anymore because it is the only local current events show on at that time.

    The show on WOND at that time has another big mouth on that I can't stand, plus I'm not to interested in hearing about what kinds of junk other people are selling. So I'm not going to be listening to that show to much either.

    But getting back to Harry, he says that he is number one in his time slot and I guess that he is. It's basically by default. There's no competition.

    But this was the beginning of the end of his morning show. He was number one, one ratings period. But it was all downhill after that.

    Oh well, let the Hurley basing begin!

    Here's another great restaurant (only 5 star in AC) to visit a few times ayear but not if you're on a fast food budget. Peregrines has 11 tables, most are surrounded by elegant booth seating and luxurious wood. Service is by 4 people, a captain, server, runner and bus persons. You are greeted like a king by Giovanni Mancini a true Maitre d'. YThe menu is extensive and expensive but with smart ordering you can have your cake and eat. You can order from the menu, specials or leave it up to Chef Anthony Spinella as we did.
    Glasses were filled with imported mineral water, drink orders arrived promptly and a large assortment of breads from chocolate to crispy crust reached the table. Each of us were served a plate with a starter of a shrimp over a small diced salad of crabmeat. For a appetizer a large plate of jumbo lump crabmeat, oysters on the half shell, smoked salmon and bed of greens was served.
    Soup was a delicious Creamed She Crab Bisque with Caviar. Salad was warm goat cheese cheesecake, goats milk cheese and frisse with champagne-dijon dressing. Intermezzo of ices.
    We shared 3 entrees, Lobster quesadillas with vegetable salsa, North Atlantic salmon served with Morrocan barbeque spices, bruised cabbage and apples and chick pea fries, pan seared Buffalo tenderloin with wilted greens, gingered potatoes and carrots with demi-glace. All were succulent and perfect. Dessert was a mix of chocolate, ice cream, fresh fruit, raspberries, blueberries, forget about it!
    And the constant attention by the staff of four servers, Giovanni and Anthony made it great time too be remembered. $274 for 4.

    Hmmm. Tonight Michael Savage was off. His guest host played a recording of some (supposedly) Muslim guy making a little speech, it was pretty good,BUT-I had a funny feeling that something was a little "off"-reason-I did not get goosebumps,like I should/would have if what was being said was "from-the-heart",

    OK so,a little while later,a woman called in and said that the speech sounded like "...it was being read from a script..."(-lady caller)

    And, that she wasn't so sure if she liked all of the propaganda that she was hearing about WAR!.

    The guest host proceeded to reduce the woman to sounding like she was a real dummy.

    Too bad that he ended up,(in my opinion),sounding like he was "protesting a little too MUCH!"(-not quite Shakesphere).

    The speech that was played was really good material, but there was just something lacking in the delivery,I noticed it,the lady caller noticed it,I'm wondering how many people agreed with what the woman said and then became a little bewildered when the host tore her a new u-no-whut?

    I don't have to tune in to Williams in the morning anymore. I can get most of the days happenings from HH.com. He reports on the Williams show more than he reports on the "real" news.


    Did anyone catch the name of the AC School Board Coordinator that is going to take Speedy's job? On his website, HH says the name is a blockbuster, we will reveal it tomorrow at 9:05. Then, I listen at 9:05, and after a while he says we are not going to reveal the name. Since I don't eavesdrop on private, inside conversations -- I tuned out!

    We were watching this show last night, it was on either the Trio or Bravo channel. It was an attempt to analyze the failure of television programs that were thought to be very promising. Most of them were comedies, but the common denominator seemed to be that most of them featured a main character who was very hard to take - unlikable, rude, irascible. The conclusion that many of the writers and producers seemed to come to was that unlikable charaters, even those written with wit and talent, are hard for viewers to take on a weekly basis. After the initial curiosity, people just get worn out by the stridency of a one-note character.
    I think the same is true of radio, local or national. The hosts that seem to have most staying power seem to be those that develop a mix of critiques, human interest, news, entertainment and humor.

    I think the nature of this board has always been that the discussions are hijacked. One cannot criticize a certain host without the poster being trashed and the moderator of this board being trashed for allowing it. One cannot turn the discussion to another host or hostess without that person being trashed. So, in a sense, unless a ban on a topic is enforced, the discussions are destined to take a particular turn because of the very small contingent determined to move it in that direction, with the obvious intention of shutting this board down. It is obvious where the source of the 'three v's' (vitriol, viciousness and vulgarity) is - so many of the anonymous posts use the same language and syntax that it's easy to read a single source into them. I'm always suspicious of people who try to put an end to discourse.
    As far as Arbitrons go, we all know that they can all be read so that any host is the winner in some age group for some time period. As a listener, I don't really care. The Arbs are not for listeners, they're for the sponsors. I don't listen or stop listening based on someone's ratings, but a sponsor may add or remove spots because of it.
    And I'm not sure what I was supposed to read into the derogatory nature of the "only popular with 65+ crowd" remarks. Let's face it, age bigotry is the dumbest form of bigotry - if bigotry does indeed have degrees - because we're ALL going to be old some day, or hope to be. It seems a silly sort of self-loathing to disparage senior citizens.
    However, while Arbitrons may not be an indicator of a caller profile, most of the callers I hear to talk radio are in the middle-aged range. Many talk of their school (high school, college age) children. I have even heard kids call in on their days off. I would probably put the majority in the 35-55 range.
