Subject: swimming in general

it has been a long time since i have made a post on this site. my time in swimming has been long

i have read some of the post that were put up by the swimmers and i am in agreement with what most of them have said.
the cuts for pan ams. it is unfortunate that they were changed but it worked out better for the females. i think that those not knowing need to look at the last 3 pan am results and understand that some of those girls have an opprutunity to get a second swim with their now personal best times. the asua times were based on results of previous meets and i think people need to understand that at these meets only 2 can come from each country. it is an opprutinity for swimmers to experince a high level of competition without all the pressure.
the disparity between the best men and the others and the best women and the others is much less. that is why the times are faster for them.
mistakes may have been made with the cuts for the higher level meets but there have never been this much swimmers in different events acheiving such high levels of performance in the sport. so there has to be adjustments by the decision makers to ensure that all have the best opprotunity without embarrassing the fedreation.
look at what the pan ams did for alana dillette; she has continued to improve because she now understands what has to be done to be the best.
apart from jeremy, right now, their is not a lot in the pipeline with regards to the men. there are a few holding down the fort and the others need time to mature. some of them are swimming fast but are they swimming as fast as some of the boys back in the day? they have some huge shoes to fill. you had to swim 24.6 back in the day to make a 50fr final at nationals. allan murry can come back and win 5ofr at nationals 2006. yes, the boys have plenty work to do, and they need to work.
parents, you need to stop babying the boys, as some of our top senior boys are being beaten by senior girls in their best events. that is a no no. lets get it together.

oh! nationals in may, an absolute step backward for swimming. we have over 300 swimmers in the federation and we are basing our main meet on about 10 seniors who have to go to pan ams.
from the last time i remember, people usually come to see the younger swimmers as their races have been much more exciting.
or, have we catered to a minority of ex-pat children, that usullay go home before the best date, which is the independence holiday wekend. their schools close early and do not have to do government exams because they are not subsidized. again, just a few.
what about the effect it is going to have on the swimmers that went to carifta about a month earlier? oh boy! some of us know so little about swimming, a taper and the effects of a taper on perfamce shortly after. ask the swimmers that went to cisc, did nationals, and cac. swam like crap at cac because it was too far from their initial taper for cisc. we are looking at possibly 36 swimmers with this same time frame possibly not swimming wellat the "may" nationals.
i can't forget the poor folks in freeport who probbaly will not come, or will be very small. they have their reasons as they have been living in that environment and understand their parameters. rumor has it, some of their top swimmers will not make the trip, exams are important!
boy would i like to put my name, but swimmers, i got ya back! gents, keep swimming hard by training hard. haters are only motivation, do not let anyone give you anything in swimming. TAKE WHAT YOU WANT BECAUSE THEY CAN'T TAKE IT FORM YOU!
comeback! hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!
