This message is obviously about the controversial selection for the CARIFTA team for 2005 in Curacao.How is it that all of a sudden when a certain clubs becomes a club again, the majority of their swimmers are chosen over someone else's? Let's take this group by group. 11-12 girls: a new swimmer has suddenly come into the light out of nowhere and who is she? Is she any good? Yes. Is she Swift? Questionable. But even more important is she Bahamian and does her information match the BSF rules that are so often bended and looked over for SOME swimmers? 11-12 boys: No comment. 13-14 girls: Most of the persons chosen were expected but the 5th and final selection was DEFINITELY a problem. Were 6 swimmers for such a strong age group not considered? And furthermore, did the last swimmer make a "successful" time in which she dominated two other swimmer? And what about the Oh-so-important relays which we get most of our points? You can't win a relay with 800 free. The BSF needs to ask themselves which is more important, 1 or 18 points? 13-14 boys: No comment. 15-17 girls: No comment. 15-17 boys: This is the second time that a swimmer has been cheated out of a National team and this time another "outside" swimmer blocked his place. Also a senior was beat out by a junior, again , of the same 'mystery' club that surprisingly MOST swimmers beat out.
All in all, no wonder competitive swimming is taking such a fall if the BSF allows such foolishness! And some of the strongest swimmers are getting the door slammed in their faces while other swimmers are getting a V.I.P. introduction to what others worked so hard for.
