- Beautiful royal purple Michelle Lewis dress for sale - would fit 11 - 13 year old -- Purple Dress, 17:33:15 10/31/09 Sat
Beautiful Michelle Lewis dress, about one year old. It is a deep purple velvet with ivory bubble under the panel shirt. Lots of Swarovski crystals add great sparkle on stage. Shawl is soft, made of the same lace seen on collar and sleeves. Underskirt is a funky multicolored flower print! Comes with crown and bloomers. Great condition - there is wear on the bubble where it rubs against the panels, but it is not at all visible from stage.
Measurements: Length 31 - 32", Bodice 17", Skirt 14 - 15", Sleeve 23", Waist 26", Chest 30". Measurements are approximate, but should be really close.

YES we will post a schedule and YES it is a bit later than last year - busy week.
YES championship comps are large, the schedule will include the number of dancers for each.
NO we do not publish a competitor list, a matter of privacy for the dancers. A complete competitor list will be available at the Feis.
NO the schedule will not be the same as last year.
NO checks are not cashed until after the feis.
YES all entries that were not accepted have been contacted by phone.
YES we do answer e-mail. As the keeper of the mail box, I apologize but I've been out of town on business. I will catch up tonight, I promise.
Also, a number of people included the $10 admission fee with their entries. We don't take advance enties. For those who included it, you will be asked to pay at the door and your advance payment will be refunded to you at the entry desk when you pick up your competitor cards.

- Help with pain in both ankles. -- Mom, 20:13:02 10/29/09 Thu
My soon to be 12 year old has been complaining of pain in both ankles when dancing. ( Most likely due to increased practice for Os). The pain is not severs and appears all over - not localized at back ( ie achilles, heel). I'm thinking it may be "growing pains" but was looking for input from anyone else who may have gone through this. Thanks !

- Has your child's TC ever made them cry? -- DAD, 09:00:35 10/26/09 Mon
I was at a feis yesterday and saw a TC scolding a dancer and she started to cry. Shortly after my DD's comp started and anything you could imagine that could go wrong did.She bumped, she slipped, you get the picture. It got to the point that we just had to laugh. At the end of the day she checked in with her TC and told her about the horrible way she had danced. By the end of the call TC made her feel like a million bucks. I don't care if your an open champion or a beginner, every body is going to have a bad day. Do TC's that make their kids cry think they are doing them any good? Just wondering how other TC's handle not so pretty moments?

- Not intentionally. But she has through neglect and dis-interest - only paying attention to her pets, not watching others, etc. I'd almost prefer some attention, even if it's not always positive. (NT) -- Different perspective...., 09:08:13 10/26/09 Mon
- Without knowing the exact situation, you can't make a snap judgement on this. Some kids cry at the drop of a hat, could have been crying before the TC started to "scold" them, or could be hypersensitive and can't take any criticism, no matter how it's presented(more) -- another perspective, 09:19:08 10/26/09 Mon
- DD has cried WITH tc for the good times and the bad -- MA, 09:53:14 10/26/09 Mon
- I am a TC, and to be honest, in my 20+ years of teaching, I have cried WITH kids, cried FOR kids, and in some instance said things that led to a child crying - more often than not, simply because of the child's own issues and not because of what or how I said it - (see inside) -- SO many factors involved!, 10:22:19 10/26/09 Mon

- parents these days are so whiney! tell the dancer to MAN UP (NT) -- get out the kitchen if you can't take the heat!, 12:35:04 10/26/09 Mon
- TC has not made dancer cry, however, close to O's seems to lose control and has yelled SHUT UP repeatedly at kids even when the dancer only spoke 1 word to answer another child's question. BTW- incapable of admitting a mistake. If TC were in a middle or high school, TC wouldn't have a job. (NT) -- Even TCs need to check their behavior, 13:41:46 10/26/09 Mon
- We have a teen dancer in our school who will not practice and then when she doesn't place she complains to everyone at a feis that the judging was not fair. When she says this to the TC, she is gently but firmly reminded of her refusal to practice and it's predicable outcome. And then she cries. But she still won't practice. (NT) -- another mom, 14:18:50 10/26/09 Mon
- Yup. Too often and it's sad. Has made parents cry too. (NT) -- No name, 17:00:03 10/26/09 Mon
- As stated so eloquently above by the TC there are lots of factors to consider. Having said that, a crowded public place is not the proper place to scold a dancer. If it was so impt. to admonish the dancer immediately, they should have stepped outside of the venue. (NT) -- time and place, 17:48:17 10/26/09 Mon
- saw teenage girl dance beautiful , tc in front row, she came of breathless walked to tc and WHATEVER she said kid gasped and walked out crying . (NT) -- tc wants winner at any cost .., 07:47:33 10/27/09 Tue
- Seen TCs that make their dancers cry, but also lots of TCs that support their dancers no matter what. At Worlds, I saw a dancer crying from disappointment when she didnt get a recall, but the TC pulled her aside and said that she did her best and that she should be proud of even making it to Worlds and that he was proud of her regardless of lack fo recall. - Older dancers have a responsibility to demonstrate good sportmanship to younger dancers since, unfortunately, young dancers can't always learn this from their parents. To me, a dancer who can genuinely show respect and good sportmanship to fellow dancers is worth far more than any amount of trophies they've won. (NT) -- my personal values, 05:39:27 10/26/09 Mon
- Being a good role model has nothing to do with level. It has to do with attitude, commitment, and being the best one can be. You can be a beginner and still be an inspiration to others by your actions. (NT) -- Mom, 06:58:54 10/26/09 Mon
- It's a small thing but when an older dancer takes the time to greet a younger dancer, especially by name or to ask how they're doing, that dancer is a star in my book. (NT) -- jmo, 07:00:35 10/26/09 Mon

- Any Syracuse-area college students want to dance?! -- SJ Velasquez, 18:20:33 10/28/09 Wed
A group of undergraduate and graduate students at Syracuse University is looking to start a Cosa Meara troupe at Syracuse University. Are you interested? Know of any Central New York dancers who want to brush off their dancing shoes and have some fun?
Cosa Meara is a collegiate network of Irish dance groups. Check out some of the already-established Cosa Meara groups throughout the USA at http://www.cosameara.com/
Please contact me if you have questions. We're just in the planning stages now, but we have a solid group of dancers already interested. If you attend a Central New York college other than Syracuse University, contact me as well. If possible, we'll branch out to incorporate other local colleges. Dancers of all levels are encouraged to join.
Hope to hear from you!
SJV
