- Food was not a problem for us last year. Not only were hot dogs, salads, etc for sale but there were lots of delicious options at the festival taking place on the plaza just outside the door. I'm feeling so frustrated and i need some support here... My dd came back from Nashville and once again didn't place. Oh well. But the family and friends when we get back are brutal. Everyone calling to ask"did she win??" - i told them, of course, before we went that her goal was to place (not that they get that either) and how hard it is to even do that. So here i am again, explaining that she didn't even place but to even get to this level is very hard adn we are proud etc. but it feels like when i hang up they are thinking i'm nuts. $2,500 dress, lessons every day in June running back and forth to the studio... all the $$ for Nashville. I'm not in a situation to do this but my dd loves it and so i find the extra $ my doing extra work myself. I think my family and friends see what i do for her (and Of course, my husband) but they can't understand why she doesn't WIN never mind come in 66th and happy about it... oh well. I'm sorry. I really just needed to vent. I'm so tried of dance and my daughter is not and so i will hang in there. but i wish sometimes that she would run track or something with a finish line that is right there for us all to see and if she's the fastest runner, she'll win instead of this - judge doesn't like her, bad rotation, dancing with a champ, not the right dress... i wish it was more cut and dry. I know, I know, get out if you don't like it. But she does. And that's the main thing i know, but i'm going broke and my rah rah level is fading fast.... any advise???

- Judged sports are tough...my daughter used to figure skate, and we got the same thing.. that judge does not like her coaches style.. even though she was the best skater she got judged low.. so it happens in other competetive sports that are judged.. you are not alone here (NT) -- :(, 08:46:24 07/14/08 Mon

Go further west or south in the US and incomes, cost of living, etc are totally different. We make more here, so things cost more here. Open message to the Feis Powers - please consider revising the 3 at a time guideline to stop at U12 or latest U13. I appreciate it saves time, but these kids are just to big at 13/14 to be dancing 3 at a time. I have witnessed so many close calls - collisions, near misses, dancers almost being kicked in the face.   - Instead of a coup at a feis politely informing feiseanna we hope to attend what our opinions are in advance. Many say on syllabi up to what age may be dancing 3 @ time. SO glad @ Old Dominion Feis, Mr. Maple changed the U13/U14 to 2 at a time, on feis day. But, listed on their syllabus 3 at a time & stage of legal size, so they COULD have.   - I think you'd lose your entry fee and the feis would get to keep the fee and the trophies. The feis is in line with the rules, until the rule changes, it's 3 at a time. If U9 does reel and jig at the O, and U10 does reel and HP, what does U11 do?

My dd thinks they go back to Jig, and change from Reel to SJ. That would mean 2 new dances. What then would U12 do? and so on.

    - Everybody is always transitioning into or out of their favorites each year. My dd's favorite is whatever she does best at the moment. So at the beginning of the year she was wistful for last year's R/HP, but by the end of 2008 I guarantee she'll be wishing she could stick with SJ/TJ rather than go back to R/HP. For at least the 3 previous years, the Feis was set up so that there were 6 stages for the grades in the main area with one group of musicians so that all the dancers would do the same dance on all 6 stages at the same time. Champs were in a different room. This year, it looks like there are only 6 stages in total. Does that mean prelim and open champs will be in the same room as the grades and therefore each stage will have its own musician?

Did anybody that signed up for this recieve some sort of confirmation? Sent my entry in a while back, when there were still 100 spots available, but never received any confirmation. Should I assume I'm not in? Thanks!
